I saw this article on KopTalk .....
If you hang out on any internet message board dedicated to discussing Liverpool Football Club, you'll know that there are things you can say to make it look like you really know what you're talking about, even if you don't.
You must know what you're talking about if you say that Robbie Fowler has lost a yard of pace and could no longer cut it at Anfield. Well you don't need a degree to work out that Robbie Fowler is no longer the young terror that he was but I think it's nonsense to suggest he could no longer ply his trade in a Liverpool shirt.
If you disagree with me you're saying that Neil Mellor, Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Fernando Morientes are all more capable than he is.
Neil Mellor would be more at home swilling a pizza down his neck with a 2 litre bottle of Pepsi than starting a game for the first team on a regular basis. Florent Sinama-Pongolle has been more impressive of late and isn't a player I'd be in a rush to sell but I wouldn't be heart broken if he was moved one either and Fernando Morientes has been a huge let down for me. He couldn't score in a brothel week in, week out. I was so excited when we signed Morientes but to date, he's not really done much to impress me.
It's been clear since Robbie left Anfield that he's no journeyman. His heart hasn't been in it at any other club and he dreams of returning to Liverpool where he became a legend. Yeh he's had bad luck with his injuries but finished he isn't.
He's available on a free transfer in the summer and I'd like to see him brought home. He may not be guaranteed a regular starting place but surely Robbie Fowler is a player with a few more years left in him yet.
Imagine the scenes if Robbie Fowler was re-signed. We're talking a free remember and he has said himself he'd play for the club for nothing if he could return. He's a player that I'd be happy to see coming off the bench as an option and who knows what could happen if he was given a chance.
I'm not one for sentimental, non sensical bullshit but I believe Robbie Fowler on a free strengthens the squad when you consider some of the lame strikers we have on board. He's only 1 year older than Fernando and he hardly needs to adapt his game.
It won't happen though because faces above the manager who were keen to see him off-loaded in the first place, wouldn't want to see him back involved because they know just how popular (and powerful) he is with the fans.
I'll be the first to admit that when he was at Liverpool I was highly critical of his lifestyle but I've always believed that was more about the company he kept and the people who wanted to set him up. He's now a family man and an acute businessman.
I'm no expert, I'm just a football fan but I believe those who continue to write Robbie off are the blind ones.
Talking of strikers, I'm starting to hear more and more about this Jermaine Defoe link. It is clear to me that someone, somewhere is trying to instigate this because of the number of stories circulating.
At a wild guess, I'd say Defoe has been told he's under consideration and now his agent is putting out these reports on a regular basis. He's certainly another striker that I would like to see signed. He's definitely a long term option.

Fowler will excel under Rafa's current tactics.
I always see him as the best England striker in this current era. -
Me love Fowler leh , my idol still , but he abit injury prone nowadays , also he bloated abit , too much alcohol i think .
But ... If I'm Benitez , and was offered Fowler , i would offer him a life-line back at Anfield , and providing he is willing to lower down his wages demand , like a 20,000 pounds per week ( currently he's earning like 67,000 pounds per week at City ) , and if injury no play , no pay .
Anyhow , don't see him in any sort of coming back , think Parry would not want him back to influence the lads . -
but but,think about it..he has good experience to give to the younger players like taking up positions in the 6 yard box.i can see him being a striker coach at pool just like ian rush in the future because he is one of the most natural finishers.
look at his goal against man utd,its just class..and pool strikers aint firing alot so its worth it if they can get his wages down. -

Mellor swilling a pizza down his neck?? I see fowler more likely doing that with his old pal mcmanaman. Fowler only produces something special in like once in ten games, and it'll be crazy to pay so much wages for a squad player.

BUT....
We have so many strikers liao do we still need one?
Fowler is getting old... he is not the God he used to be.
Use he for League/FA cups only? nah...
I think it's better not having him back though he was a really good player when wearing the Red jersey. -
i think if u are comparing the natural ability to finish and predatory instinct,none of the current pool strikers comes close to fowler..although they make up for it in other areas like aerial ability,pace etc...

Liverpool did have a lot of strikers of different shape, size and make.
But, none of them are regular goal scorer like owen and fowler.
Put it blunt - they are useless.
They cannot create and score a goal at the same time.
Therefore, none of them is up to the level of Robbie Fowler.
He is the GOD of Liverpool and will stay as the GOD.
I agree Fowler cannot last 90 minutes.
But, sometime soccer is not about 90 minutes.
It need a moment of magic.
Fowler can create magic for the last 10 minutes.
Liverpool is now a star team without star inside. -

Almost all who feedback felt that Fowler deserve to come back to Liverpool .

Fowler was out due to conflict with the assistant coach.
Ah Ben and GH cannot tolerate player over manager.
I really dun see him coming back.
If he come back, it would be icing to the cake and to get the coveted EPL title.
His drinking habit and wild social life would also influence the rest of the players. -
Drinking and party is not known to benitez , maybe ah ben would want to call Houllier on that ?

But again , why not set a clause in Fowler short term contract , be a good boy , if not .... bye bye to him . -
Fowler will be valuable in terms of his experience and quality. He will also be a definite fan favorite with the Kop. I'm not sure if his arrival will disrupt the changing room harmony, but I'm sure that whatever he does, he will have LFC's best interests in heart.
If he's available on a free, I think it'll be a good idea to bring him back. He can add depth and quality to the frontline and perhaps have an influencing role like what Gary Mac used to do in 2001? I'm sure most Luverpudlians will welcome that idea.
Anyway, nice to see a forum dedicated to LFC here.
