Liverpool are poised to follow up the capture of Robbie Fowler with the signing of Deportivo La Coruna winger Victor.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez has made no secret of his desire to bring in a winger during the January transfer window and had been linked with a host of names.
Benitez has seen moves for Atletico Madrid's Luciano Galletti and Benfica's Simao Sabrosa hit the rocks, prompting the Spaniard to switch his attentions across La Primera to Depor.
The Reds are close to striking an accord with Depor and Victor has not made the trip to Madrid for the weekend clash with Atletico.
Victor, who has recently returned to fitness following a thigh injury, is expected to head to Merseyside on Sunday to discuss terms and undergo a medical.
A three-and-a-half-year deal is set to be put on the table and Benitez will hope to wrap up the transfer before the window slams shut on Tuesday.
Victor has class in abundance, having turned out for Real Madrid in the past, and Benitez will hope the 29-year-old can add some attacking thrust to his side. -

after that miss at Old Trafford , all Liverpool fans would like Cisse's head chopped , some might thought that signing of Fowler seem to come to the end of Cisse , not really la ...... Fowler is the straight replacement for Mellor .
It's a straight forward solution , sent Mellor out on loan , for two years or so , get Fowler to play 2 years or so ..... by the time Mellor matured into a great player , and come back , Fowler can pack his bag .

KopTalk Newsfeed : Deportivo La Coruna winger Victor is expected to arrive on Merseyside within the next 24 hours to discuss a move to Anfield.
The 29-year-old Real Madrid academy graduate has pulled out of the Deportivo squad that has travelled to Madrid for the weekend clash with Atletico and it is rumoured that he's on a flight to the North West.
Victor is a very fast, skilful player who can play on either wing. He's been a regular for Deportivo mainly on the right side of midfield for the last five seasons. He made his international debut with Spain in February 2000.
Liverpool have until Tuesday evening to conclude a deal. -

From KopTalk:Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez says a deal to bring Deportivo La Coruna winger Victor to Anfield looks unlikely.
There were doubts about the deal circulating yesterday with suggestions that the player had failed his medical. However it didn't even get as far as that as the player has so far failed to reach an agreement with Deportivo regarding his severance package so the medical that had been pencilled in didn't take place.
"It will be difficult," said the boss. "We were talking with Deportivo but at the end there were some problems so we decide to go forward and to use the players that we have at this moment.
"Now we are talking with Deportivo. Sometimes you try to do some things and it's not easy. In this case we were talking about Mark Gonzalez in a swap for Victor but at the end we had conversations with Real Sociedad about Mark and now Mark can go to Real Sociedad.
"In this moment we are thinking about this month, these games (this transfer window). At the end of the season we will see (about Victor) but at this moment we don't have an agreement and we don't have any idea about the summer."

Liverpool target Victor says he's staying at Deportivo La Coruna until his contract expires in the summer.
The right-sided midfielder was wanted by Rafa but he refused to lose out financially to complete the move.
According to him, Deportivo wanted him to waive his rights to a substantial amount of money to make the switch to Anfield and he was having none of it.
Victor said: "It was impossible to pardon the money and in these circumstances I've preferred to stay in La Coruna and finish my contract in June."
Guess we just have to wait until June to get him on a free .
