Chelsea fans issue internet death threats to ref
Chelsea have vowed to punish any fans who made death threats at referee Terje Hauge on the club's official messageboard and will investigate how the comments were allowed to be posted.
Norwegian official Hauge provoked the anger of Blues supporters after issuing defender Asier del Horno with a straight red card during the 2-1 Champions League defeat by Barcelona on Wednesday night.
While clumsy, many felt Del Horno's challenge on Lionel Messi did not warrant a sending off and Barcelona's Argentina midfielder certainly made the most of the contact between them.
Threats to Hauge subsequently appeared on the club's official chat site and on a Norwegian fans' forum, provoking condemnation from Chelsea who have removed the offending comments.
A club statement read: 'Chelsea totally condemns any threats made to referees, officials, players or supporters of any club or football organisation.
'A small number of abusive messages were posted on the official chat site yesterday, Thursday, following the Barcelona game.
'These were among 4,000 general messages posted yesterday and the offending messages were removed as soon as Chelsea were alerted to them.
'If Chelsea are able to trace the authors of these messages, and if they are Chelsea season-ticket holders or members, then action will be taken against the culprits.
'Chelsea does monitor the official chat site but it will now be conducting a review of these procedures and improving them.
'Chelsea would like to stress that, at this stage, it is impossible to say whether the messages were posted by Chelsea fans as the site is publicly accessible.
'Similarly the club is not in control of other fan websites, inside or outside of the United Kingdom that claim connections with Chelsea, and those websites are also publicly accessible.'
Similar threats were made to official Anders Frisk after the Swede sent off Didier Drogba in the first leg of the clubs' tie last season. He subsequently retired as a result.

Nothing wrong about their reaction on the referee.
The fans are just like most people talk big only.
Some Liverpool fans also gangbang the Alan Smith's ambulance.
So, it is common for the soccer fan to make just irresponsible response.
But, Jose is more funny in suggesting that he send his reserves B team to Nou Camp as his team will sure lose one.
Football is definitely more exciting with Jose around.
He is more daring in making and creating controvesy.
Ah Ben would have accepted the red card and say: "No Comments." -

Man Utd, Liverpool condemn Smith ambulance attack

Manchester United and Liverpool have issued a joint statement condemning the fans who attacked the ambulance taking Alan Smith to hospital at the weekend.
Smith, 25, suffered a broken leg and a dislocated ankle during United's 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Anfield.
The clubs' statement read: "These people aren't real fans of football.
"The actions of a few idiots should not overshadow the efforts of all involved to make sure Alan received the best treatment as soon as possible."
Reports in several newspapers on Thursday claimed the ambulance was surrounded by people who threw stones and bottles at it and even tried to rock it from side to side.
The two paramedics - both Liverpool fans - were described as being "horrified" by the hostility shown once the culprits realised the occupants of the ambulance were Alan Smith and Manchester United's club doctor Mike Stone.
A spokesman for the Merseyside ambulance trust confirmed the attack: "It did not result in any delay in transferring the player to hospital but the trust cannot condone this type of behaviour while administering emergency treatment."
Smith, who later underwent surgery on the injury, was given a general anaesthetic before he left the stadium so was not aware of the attack on the ambulance.
Les Lawson, secretary of the Merseyside branch of the official Liverpool Supporters' Club, told BBC Radio Five Live: "The Liverpool supporters who were actually inside the ground gave Alan Smith a standing ovation as he left the field.
"As far as I am concerned, the people who attacked the ambulance are not genuine Liverpool supporters because you just don't do that sort of thing.
"You never know when you are going to need the paramedics yourself or for a member of your family, so how would they feel if mindless idiots came out and tried to shake an ambulance and throw missiles.
"These are just not genuine football fans. Words just fail you really.
"I don't think the relationship between the two sets of fans will ever improve really because there is a great rivalry and the fans just don't like each other," he added.
Liverpool Fans Also Attacked A INJURED Ankle man who cannot even moved or he never even scored any goals or offend any LFC fans with only minutes on the field what possibly things he had done to deserver to be even attacked or condemn ?
