Manu has a +10 goal advantage.Even in the most realistic form,i doubt Manu will lose like a 5 goal advantage gap over the last 3 matches.And even if so Liverpool need to score 6 goals to overtake Manu since Manu's total goal scored will still be > Liverpool if they have the same goal difference and take 2nd place.Liverpool to score 6 more goals over whatever is conceded in 3 matches? That is asking for really alot considering that Liverpool's offense was never too good this season

guess pool have to resign to finish 3rd, which i feel is a great improvement compare to last season.. of cos i oso believe we wun give up the chase for 2nd but we oso have to consider that we have a cup final soon plus most of our players r going world cup..

Chelsea will and would do LFC a favour and charlton might hold man utd to a draw as for boro it should be a win for man utd

Charlton sia sway , lost to Bolton 4-1 ? What happen if playing MU ?
Boro also one kind of sia sway team , i don't see them graping any points from MU .
Liverpool's Chief Rick Parry has already said that he is overall satisfied with Liverpool's progress , and achieving the desire minimum UCL target as early as early April .
Rafa also happy with the progress , and has thus going to play more reserves against West ham , so , what do you think ? -

Liverpool are currently 3 points behind Manu having played 1 game more.
Liverpool 76 points played 36 games Goal difference of 28
Man U 79 points played 35 games Goal difference of 37
Here are the remaining fixture dates :
Chelsea vs ManU Sat April 29th
ManU vs Middlesborough Mon May 1st
ManU vs Charlton Sun May 7th
Liverpool vs Aston Villa Sat April 29th
Portsmouth vs Liverpool Sun May 7th
If Chelsea do beat ManU on Saturday and Liverpool take 3 points at Anfield against Villa, then they would be level on points, with Liverpool having played one game more.
We would need to hope that Middlesborough do not lose to ManU and then it will be all down the the last game of the season in the fight for 2nd place.
I still think it's a long shot though. -

Even if Man U don't beat Chelsea, I can't see Charlton or Middlesbrough get anything from Man U...
Liverpool left it too late..Nevertheless, I hope they win their remaining 2 games against Villa and Pompey so as to achieve more than 80 points, which is a very good accomplishment. -

Pompey is safe , let's say we finished them off , do you expect MU to sit there waiting for the result of this game , to settle the score ? No right , they odd to finish the remaining match on a high right , for their fans ?
Boro ? They were still in a high after their miracle win against S.Bucharest , and lost to Everton at home , they'll focus on their UEFA CUP , and win it , if possible , and it's very possible , and could well be " Defending Champion " ? Against MU , egg trying to smash a rock , Boro will let this game go .
Charlton ? Curbs just resign , guess what , u think The Charlton camp in a good mood after his resignation ? A win for Curbs , dream on !
Liverpool remain 3rd . No 2nd for me , MU 2nd . -
Man U don't neccesarily have to lose 2 games for LFC to catch up.
2 draws for them, and we will still finish ahead of them...

sorry to disappoint all of u, i feel pool supporters should not pin so much hope for 2nd place. i dun see man u will fail to win one of their remaining fixture, just like man u fans hoping man u to cling the champ n hoping to beat chelsea.
anyway i hope pool players can do their best n ignore the pressure n their matches just to hope man u slip.

Liverpool 79 points Goal Difference 30 Games left to play - Vs Portsmouth at Fratton Park on May 7th
ManU 79 points Goal Difference 34 Games left to play - vs Middlesborough at Old Trafford on May 1st, vs Charlton at Old Trafford on May 7th
It's going down to the wire. I'm hoping ManU do not win against Middlesborough. Then it gives Liverpool a better chance.
At the moment the relegation battle has been decided; West Brom, Birmingham City and Sunderland are going down. The title has gone to Chelsea.
The only thing left undecided is the battle for 2nd and the battle for 4th. But then again Spurs might still lose out on the CL place if Arsenal win the CL.
So really.....all eyes will be on ManU and Liverpool for the last day!
Portsmouth have nothing left to play for. So the match at Fratton Park on the last day may not be so difficult for Liverpool.
As for ManU, they have lost Wayne Rooney, their most important players. When Rooney doesn't perform, ManU doesn't get the results. Remember the Sunderland match at Old Trafford?
Also, ManU have to play Boro on Monday just barely 3 days after the massively draining (both physically and mentallY and emotionally) clash with Chelsea.
There's a chance Boro can hold out for a draw. The ManU attack seems quite toothless without Rooney pulling the strings.
Curbishley will want to go out on a high in his last game for Charlton.
Here are the permuations:
1) If ManU draw both ties and Liverpool wins their last match, Liverpool are second.
2) If ManU lose to Boro, then on the last match, Liverpool have to match ManU's result and score enough goals such that they have a better goal difference. At the moment ManU have a better difference by 4. If they do lose to Boro, it would have to be cut to 3 or less. Hence Liverpool will need to win against Portsmouth by >4 goals if they want to be second.
3) If ManU beat Boro, then on the last day, Liverpool have to hope that ManU lose to Charlton while they beat Portsmouth away. And they also have to hope they score enough goals to have a better goal difference than ManU.
Hence in conclusion, the Boro game is massively important for Liverpool. It will determine the likelihood of Liverpool's chances of finishing 2nd. Boro MUST NOT lose to ManU.
