Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes says he's not prepared to hang around at Anfield if it means sitting on the bench.
The former Real Madrid hitman has never found his form since Rafa brought him in and he looks nailed on to leave over the summer.
Spain overlooked him when they named their World Cup squad earlier in the week and he's now officially sulking as a result.
Morientes said: "I've been at Liverpool for a year and a half and with injuries and other things I've never felt right.
"I'll have to speak to the manager to see if he wants me but I can't stay if I don't play.
"I left Madrid because I didn't feel useful.
"If I'd played more, if I'd scored 15 or 20 more goals, I'd have been able to expect something better but I haven't played well.
"My playing style was my guarantee but the terrible year I've had has put paid to that."
Rafa is already making moves in the transfer market for replacements as he looks to offload Morientes along with Djibril Cisse. -
Hopefully he give himself another season to prove he can make it a level up before calling it a day .
Think he exclusion in the Spain's World Cup 23's a set-back for him . -
Nando have already been given one season to impress.
He have not been impressive so far.
He is like pass his prime.
Liverpool cannot be nursing home for over the prime striker.
Should sell him since he is still fit and fetch a good price.
No point selling him when he is injured or unwanted. -
Nando should leave....do the right thing.
I was never impressed with him in the first place, despite his Monaco heroics. -
I find it unfortunate that Liverpool have never seen the best side of Fernando Morientes. Frankly speaking, his form at the club was downright awful for a striker of his reputed calibre ; the stats do not lie. And I am sure that he knows it all too well.
Morientes and Traore are the players I am pretty certain will be offloaded by Rafael Benitez. Liverpool are aiming to be serious title challengers next season and with the form that these two are in they can only be qualified as dead-weight. We must make way for other possible replacements to come in. Whether Djibril Cisse would leave remains yet to be seen - there is alot of speculation concerning his possible departure but I feel that he has tried his best to fit in and the manager may yet have plans for him.
