Liverpool have today completed the signing of Jermaine Pennant from Birmingham on a four year contract.
The 23 year old right sided midfielder officially put pen to paper on his Anfield deal this afternoon after completing a medical.
He will fly out to Switzerland to join up with his new team-mates at their week long training camp.
Pennant's arrival marks the end of manager Rafael Benitez's long search to bring in a right winger and he could make his Reds' debut against Kaiserslautern this weekend.
Pennant started his career with Notts County before moving to Arsenal for £2 million in 1999. He was unable to hold down a regular place in Arsene Wenger's first team and had loan spells with Watford, Leeds United and Birmingham before completing a permanent move to St Andrews last summer.
He becomes Rafael Benitez's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Craig Bellamy, Mark Gonzalez, Fabio Aurelio and Gabriel Paletta.
Pennant will wear the number 16 shirt at Anfield. -

Sevilla boss should be happy now that Alves is staying at Sevilla . I for one is happy that Liverpool is shrew enough to opt for the cheaper , but better option , in my opinion .
I am happy that Pennant is here , happy that we have solve our right hand problem .
Considering Pennant has a good track record for his crossing , Crouch and Fowler , plus Bellamy should benefit from his services . -

End up have to pay so much. It's sick that England players' prices are overly inflated.
Hope that Pennant can do his stuff, stay out of trouble and justify his huge transfer fee.
For one, I nearly puked my cup of water when reading the price can go up to 7.5 and now 8 million pounds. -
the unfortunate phenom nowadays is if u r from a big club, u r likely to be sold on the cheap if u r let go. reverse is tru if u r from a small club.
up to 8mil is a lot for pennant who remains an unfulfilled prodigy from arsenal. if he cannot estd himself in 2-3 season, he will go on the cheap.
so, pennant is risky in my opinion, i am more than happy to be proven wrong. -
