I'm surprised Pennant and Alonso were not playing. Aurelio did ok. But too many long balls went awry.
Sucks also that Riise and Carra were injured early on, reduced our options later in the game.
Relieved that Liverpool equalised but still, it's sad the opening day result stays the same again for the 3rd season in a row.....

i tot he is a decent winger with good pace but his ball control has all the while been poor. does that qualifies him as a good central mid?
just hope the sacrifice of two points really prove worthy on the champ league qualifier. -
Liverpool playing with two minds .
One part is on the match against Haifa .
No excuse for not winning .
Basically a half team against Sheff.utd .
I discovered there is some lacking of understanding between some players .
Anyway , it's okay to get one point away . -
Ah Ben Team B Tactics worked well against Chelsea as the Blues were unfit.
The same tactics backfired as the Blades was hungry to impress their fans on their debut to EPL.
The Blades was more hungry than the Reds.
The midfield was particularly soft and Zenden and Stevie was daydreaming.
Kromkamp was basically wasting his 1st team chance with his non-commited runs and ball ballooning.
If their mentality of the game is still safety, then the Reds is going to stay in the 4th position.
Man Utd is still more hungry when they play every match as they play to win.
Liverpool's match winning eagerness is seriously lacking. -
The problem with Liverpool and other teams is that Liverpool played considering the whole season, while other teams played like every match is a final cup match.
Of course, the reputation of Liverpool always spurs other teams to do their best. -
All along i know Sheffield United always play a physical game , how am i right , they just don't allow our players 2 have a single clear mind to create , before you can think , their legs already flying in , not rough type , just physical !
They reminds me of the old Wimbledon and Bolton . -

Zenden was playing in center midfield the last few seasons of his middlesbrough career. So it's not for some recently-made decision by rafa to play him there. Anyway our left side is already overcrowded with riise, aurelio, gonzales, kewell and warnock.
On the match, the worst player was kronkamp. He had no communication whatsoever with the centerbacks and he seemed lost throughout. His passing was wayward (saw the backpass he gave to reina?eesh...), marking non-existent... i can go on and on... He's like the right-sided traore who, finally, left the club. Heck, he's no better than josemi who didn't last more than 6 mths. Our most consistent, unsung hero, finnan would have definitely done a better job. Too bad he's approaching the wrong side of 30.
About the new signings, gonzales is still too soft. So much for the hype about his pace. Didn't see him try to take on defenders much, huh? Aurelio's not bad. Still needs to develop understanding between defenders though. Bellamy was the best among the lot. His determination can't be doubted.
Overall, can't blame the new boys. Its their first premiership game. Blame fowler for missing one or two sitters. Blame gerrard for his occasional wayward passing considering his high standards. Blame hyppia for being too slow and tackling aimlessly at times. Blame sissoko for not protecting the defenders like he does so well often. Blame carra and riise for getting injuries so early on in the game.
Bottomline, focus was too much on the champs league. And overconfidence. Tonight, the whole team sucked. -

Reasons why liver didnt win
1. the team needs to gel more between the new lads n the old ones

It is a matter of deployment of players.
Liverpool will be travelling to Ukarine next week for the CL match.
Therefore, that is the reason why Ah Ben rested the 1st team players for this match.
The charity shield gave Ah Ben the false confidence that his team B is good enough.
Sad to say, his team B is not there yet as they have not played with each other more often.
Ah Ben have forgotten that the 1st Division must have a certain mark to be able to get to premier league, just look at the comeback from Reading yesterday.
But, it is a good reminder for the players that you have to delivered quality on the pitch to show that you have quality and class and not on paper. -
Sheff Utd were not playing real football, If you noticed it
They were really lucky Aurelio didn't mark Hulse properly and that it was Therotically impossible to score a goal when the opposition has 11 men in their own half
Aurelio, Zenden and Kromkamp both sucked very badly.. Gonzalez was pretty impressive -
