Liverpool are being linked with Newcastle United striker Michael Owen.
The News of the World says Owen is still fighting to overcome a knee injury that required two ops and is unlikely to play a competitive game this term.
With the Geordies stuck in a survival battle near the foot of the Premiership, the prospect of them losing their £16m striker, 26, is looming.
That could open the way for the England star to make an emotional return to his old club Liverpool.
If relegated, Newcastle would be unable to keep Owen because of the player's £120,000-a-week wages.
They might be forced to accept a knockdown price of around £6m - which will alert the Kop and other clubs.
£6m? Not a bad deal.
Something interesting to note. In my first season of FM07, I bought back Michael Owen for £9.75m, after some haggling and stuff. The interesting thing was, Newcastle got relegated.
So, after using him in a couple of seasons with my Liverpool team, I now do not mind having him back with Liverpool IRL. [/url] -
Better off giving the 6 million pound to a younger striker.
Owen is already out of match fitness and body fitness.
Buying him is basically wasting the money of Liverpool Board.
Liverpool dun need a injured player on the bench for the next few season. -

We have enuff injuries of our own, the strikers are not exactly firing pounders and so the last thing we need is one half-fit player in the rooster. No offence to Owen.
That said, on a fantasy football level... let's see how Owen is coping after he recovers from the lengthy layoff. -
i think michael owen is really gone case liao, i dun see the need pool will re-sign him due to them having enough strikers, esp fowler is regarded as legend in the squad.

most of their news are accurate
except for transfer rumour which can be accurate
maybe LFC is really link with owen and is on the shortlist of LFC but that does not mean that LFC must sign him
i still beileve in tribalfootball generally it is provide some very interesting and lots of transfer rumours -

i remember shearer only got 80k. -
