MASCHERANO'S RED DEVIL GAFFE
Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has already put his foot in it at Anfield - by saying he now considers himself a Red Devil!
The Argentine World Cup star is still waiting for clearance to make his debut, having joined from West Ham on deadline day last week.
But he's already caused a storm by referring to the Kop kings as the Red Devils, the nickname of course of bitter rivals Manchester United.
He told The Sun: "I have disconnected myself from West Ham and signed a contract with Liverpool.
"I can consider myself a Red Devil. It's now just up to the Premier League to authorise me to play, something I believe should happen because it was they who made the appeal to FIFA to allow me to move clubs. I hope the situation is resolved as soon as possible."
Mascherano's stay at West Ham turned into a nightmare as he only managed 235 minutes of Premiership action for the struggling London outfit.
And he's now hoping that the move to Merseyside will kickstart his career once again.
He said: "Rafa Benitez asked me if I wanted to stay in England or if I'd prefer to go elsewhere. When I told him I wanted to play this football and prove that I can adapt to it, he fought to sign me."

West Ham goalkeeper Jimmy Walker has revealed why Javier Mascherano feels his move to Upton Park just wasn't meant to be.

Mascherano is sweating on a loan deal with Liverpool to be rubberstamped and Walker, in his column for West Ham's match programme, revealed how one day everything conspired to work against the Argie.
Walker wrote: "I have to tell you about his day from hell when his interpreter Ciaran had forgotten to tell him the team had the day off.
"Javier drove to the training ground but broke down as he had run out of petrol so he walked to the nearest petrol station but realised he had no money.
"He had to ring Ciaran and ask him to speak to the petrol station manager, but they were not having any of it and just said 'if he does not have any money he is not getting any petrol'.
"He had to walk to the training ground to borrow some money off Anton, who was in for treatment, and also discovered the team were not in. He walked back, filled the petrol can up, walked to his car put the petrol in and set off back home. Then half a mile up the road a taxi crashed into the back of him. When he was telling me about it in his broken English he finished the story by saying, 'Jimmy, I get home, I shut the curtains and I sleep'." -
Javier Mascherano has been cleared to play for Liverpool this season after the Premier League accepted the club's request to register him at Anfield.
The Argentine midfielder, 22, agreed to join the Reds before the close of the transfer window last month.
The deal was held up as the Premier League wanted to assess whether the relationship between club and player was "subject to third-party influence".
But the Premier League is now satisfied the move does not breach its rules.
Mascherano flew out with the Liverpool squad for their Champions League tie with Barcelona on Wednesday and is eligible to play against the European champions.
A statement on the Premier League's website read: "The Premier League has confirmed that the application by Liverpool FC to register Javier Mascherano as a player has been accepted.
"The Premier League is satisfied that the contractual arrangements proposed by Liverpool FC are consistent with its rules; particularly that the relationship between club and player is not subject to third-party influence.
"The Premier League is grateful for Liverpool FC's cooperation and openness at the start and throughout the process."
Fifa granted dispensation for Mascherano to make the move at the start of the month, despite the fact he has already played for two clubs since 1 July last year - Corinthians and West Ham.
Under Fifa rules, a footballer cannot play competitively for more than two different clubs between 1 July and 30 June the following year.
However, dispensation was granted after Fifa took into consideration the fact that the South American and European seasons overlap.
Mascherano made only seven appearances for the Hammers after arriving in the summer, but said: "I have no rancour. It is obvious that I was not a player for that club.
"I want to gain the respect of the Liverpool players and win a place in the team on merit." -
His full debut at Anfield was impressive as he provide perfect cover for the full back so that Stevie can move forward to score goal.
That is what Ah Ben was looking for Momo to perform, which was previously executed perfectly by Hamann.
I guess this red devils should be the best bargain for Ah Ben this year.
The greatest puzzle is WHY did West Ham release such a good player in the 1st place. -

Javier is such an idiot. How can anyone who knows his football confuse ManU and Liverpool?
That aside, I thought he did well for the team in his debut against Sheffield United.
