GERRARD: WE STILL HAVE TO BE PROFESSIONAL
"We can't think about that just yet," he said. "There's still work to be done in this tie and we have to make sure we're professional at Anfield next week and finish the job off. There's still 90 minutes to play."
Yeah, not very wise to be as well.Originally posted by the_unknown:it's only the 1st leg, over-confidence aint going to do us good

And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone

remember the european super cupOriginally posted by Poolman:Looking at yesterday's result .....
My prediction :
Liverpool vs Valencia
Bayern Munich vs Roma
Liverpool of course will cruise thru ....
Chelsea will be very difficult at Mestella , just asked Inter Milan .
Bayern will be too strong for AC , any 1-1 or lower draw will be good enuf for Bayern
MU will can't believe how good the Italian's defense can be when they play away .....
Of course a Liverpool vs Bayern Munich will nice , cos i never see Liverpool play Bayern before .
also note tht MU n Chealsea face a more motivated opposition..
I've used this space to praise the tactical nous of Rafa Benitez in the past. Liverpool's Spanish manager is rarely outsmarted on big UEFA Champions League nights.
However, Tuesday's comfortable and comprehensive 3-0 win in Eindhoven owed more to PSV's fragility then to any brilliant tactical plan put in place by Benitez.
As a spectacle, this was sadly a complete anti-climax. PSV lacked the guile and organisation we saw from them in their two matches against Arsenal. Mind you, it was always going to be a challenge for Ronald Koeman to devise a winning formula, minus defensive lynchpin Alex, livewire striker Arouna Kone and new Dutch international Ibrahim Afellay.
Alex would certainly have been expected to prevent one or perhaps even two of the Liverpool goals on the night. Poor Timmy Simons, normally a midfield player, simply wasn't up to the task of dealing with Liverpool's intelligently constructed attacks.
However, it's an indictment of PSV when I say that Liverpool didn't have to anything beyond the competent and professional. At least, we would have expected to see the Dutch champions put up a fight. Yet there was no closing down the opposition, limited attempt to force Liverpool mistakes: the passive approach proved to be the punchless approach.
Liverpool knew in advance that PSV are not a pressing side, but surely they didn't anticipate such a meek surrender.
The only black mark on an otherwise bright evening for the Reds concerned Fabio Aurelio, one of the unluckiest players at the top level of football in recent years. The Brazilian's latest Achilles injury will end his season.
One of the many things I admire about the Dutch is their brutal honesty. Ronald Koeman's post-match summary was perfect. 'If I told my squad to believe they can still advance, then I don't belong on this planet.'
