LIVERPOOL boss Rafa Benitez wants to splash a large part of his clubÂ’s Champions League cash on West HamÂ’s controversial striker Carlos Tevez.
Benitez believes he holds a powerful bargaining tool – as Tevez’s former Corinthians and West Ham team-mate Javier Mascherano is already at Anfield.
While the row over who actually owns Tevez rumbles on and could still affect the Premiership relegation situation, Benitez is quietly making his move for the brilliant Argentinian.
Real Madrid and Inter Milan have also been linked with Tevez but that hasnÂ’t put Benitez off.
He has been promised substantial backing this summer from joint American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks while his sideÂ’s amazing run to a second Champions League final in three seasons has helped fill club coffers.
Tevez could cost £20million and Liverpool will step up their discreet moves to land him after Wednesday night’s final in Athens against AC Milan.
They are ready to wrap up a £12m move for Mascherano and want to make it an Argentine double. -

crouch is irreplaceable imo, so i have a feeling dat kuyt has to go.
i think rafa is going to give more chances to kuyt than that troublemaker

Think he is definitely worth 20m. Look how he help Argentina in international games. He just need more time to adapt to the English style of playing. He will be a good addition to Liverpool.

but crouch n tevez styles are very different. playing long ball, crouch is better choice; but tevez is a kinda player who fitted into direct style as he is good at dribbling.
for me, i think Arsenal style will suit Tevez more. -
tevez can also play on right wing when pennant not performing. but he'll be more of the box winger like pires, rather then those crossing type. a different option.

I think Tevez can provide the similiar role Luis Garcia had done ..... playing just behind the central strikers for the link play ....
But one thing he can do many Liverpool players had failed , that is to score from free-kicks .
I am praying hard Mascherano can convince a bit to Carlos Tevez to join us .
Again , 25 million pounds is just small change to Hicks and Gillett . -
Get tevez and he can link up play if we can managed to buy eto'o too. On the European front we will be a much assured genuine European Cup contenders, together with Simao and Alves of course. Both are quality wingers and set play pros.
Yes we need better free kick takers. Tevez has scored more free kicks than gerrard last season. I didnt even knew tevez could score from free kicks! Then again Tevez has scored 40 goals for me in a season at CM 06 =) Torres has scored 60 =))
4 3 1 2 looks like a good formation to me but at the premiership, the wide areas are quality ones to exploit! 80percent of Liverpool goals came in from the wings. Tevez is a versatile yet can lead on all attacking fronts. Whether his a winger, free kick or spot kick specialist, box to box striker or goal poacher and a hard worker, i see bright future for this 23 year old modern striker. -
but tevez may not be so hardworking since he is not in a relegation dogfight
and may not join liverpool -
Tevez improved especially towards the end of the season also to prove his critics wrong. Besides, even if he were to want another club to buy him, he has to show he is worth buying in the first place.
