Who have been Rafa's best buy in his managerial career at Liverpool and why?
And will Rafa make a third successive season of buying a few quality players?, and who?
My vote will go to Kuyt and Mascherano.
Both players settled in really well, with Kuyt finding a regular starting place at the Liverpool squad, and Alonso's position constantly in threat with the 'little chief' holding midfielder.
Im impressed with the scouting dept...
Momo Sissoko. Hardworking, came out of a career threatening injury
Daniel Agger. Class, and can shoot well too!
The aforementioned 2 players.
Jermaine Pennant has been an impressive young lad too.
I believe Rafa would go for his no.1 targets soon.
I heard Tevez is one of them. Alves and Eto'o/Torres.
Though im not really sure of the two la liga strikers.

wat about peter crouch? i feel he is improving alot.
frankly speaking i do hope pool should concentrate on cultivate on youth squad n cultivate another fowler, owen or gerrard. there r not many these days.

Mascherano made the most impact of the signings this year. The other best buys so far had to be Alonso and Luis Garcia.
The most improved definately is Crouchie. -

hmmm.. ya ah.. crouch is getting from robotic to a top class striker.actualli was hoping he would start against AC, afterall he is 1 head taller than maldini and nesta. and he can intimidate the referee.
Oh... speaking about the ref now i knw why milan won 6 out of 6 with him while liverpool has lost 4 out of 4 with this bloody ref.

Liverpool stars want Rafa over-ruled on Owen bid
Senior Liverpool stars Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have asked club owner George Gillett to bring Michael Owen back from Newcastle United this summer.
The Telegraph says Gillett and Tom Hicks are keen but Rafa Benitez, the Liverpool manager, is less enthusiastic and any deal is unlikely.
The desire of Gerrard and Carragher to restore Owen to the Liverpool fold is hardly a secret. Both have talked openly about their admiration for Owen. All three came through the Academy ranks and remain good mates, despite Owen having left Anfield for Real Madrid and now Newcastle United.
This is more than friends wanting to be re-united. Owen is the type of serial finisher Liverpool are crying out for; their lack of a cutting edge was highlighted during last week's European Cup final defeat to AC Milan. -
Liverpool new contract talks again stall
Liverpool's plans to secure a raft of senior players to new deals has been scuppered by international week.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is keen to conclude negotiations as he begins the process of rebuilding his squad.
Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have agreed to new deals while Pepe Reina has intimated he wants to extend his stay at the club.
But Benitez is likely to have to wait for the trio to put pen to paper given they are involved in Euro 2008 qualifiers.
Steve Finnan will also sign a new contract, and Benitez is hopeful Xabi Alonso can agree a fresh deal despite interest from Barcelona. -
Liverpool go for £9M Lyon ace Malouda
Liverpool are planning a bid for Lyon winger Florent Malouda.
The Daily Mail says it is understood Malouda, capped 28 times, is among Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez's targets and Lyon's president has said he is ready to listen to offers for France's newly-crowned player of the year.
The 26-year old, who is Benitez's preferred option on the left side next season, is likely to cost around £9m after playing a key role in another title-winning campaign for his club. -

Pennant has not been a flop, he has impressed on occassion despite not being able to start more frequently. For example, he was good in the home game against Chelsea both in the league and UCL. He performed pretty ok too against AC Milan in the final. He started all 3 games. Pennant has not been fantastic this season, but to label him a flop is kind of extreme. -

I said it many times.. Pennant is really good. He supplied the corner for Kuyt's goal at the UCL final... His going to be top draw. If Alves comes in... It would be good to see a very stiff competition between Pennant and Alves. ( tevez maybe if he comes ) He just lack selfishness to score and he really needs to improve on his goal scoring records. Crosses from him are quality, and running away from defenders is his forte. He just makes it looks so easy at times!
But this is just talk talk talk talk and talk... I wana see action... We talk and talk and talk for 6 months and cant finish... Man utd have signed a midfielder for 17m and we need to secure our top targets for the summer. If we do not act fast the next few weeks we have to content with the no2 no3 targets.

kuyt im not so sure.. he is hardworking but i dun see him making an impact in epl.
and liverpool need a big name signing..
not those little known players arriving for 8-9 million and hoping 1 of them becomes pro.

and pennant have the pace but all he know is to cross cross cross
ok his crossing is good but without crouch his crossing is useless
combine pennant and crouch and u might get a goal or 2
