Fri, Jun 15 2007 09:53Liverpool have confirmed they want West Ham star Yossi Benayoun and could be ready to offer Craig Bellamy in part-exchange.
The Reds were linked with a cut-price swoop for Israeli international Benayoun yesterday - a story that was later confirmed by their chief executive
Rick Parry although he insisted talk of a £1million deal was wide of the mark.
The Hammers were said to be 'insulted' at what they viewed as an insufficient bid for one of their most talented players, who is now stalling on a new deal at Upton Park following news of the Reds' interest.
Parry said: "I can confirm we have made an approach for Yossi Benayoun, but the figures quoted are completely wrong. Other than that we don't want to say any more."
It is thought a deal in the region of £3million may be enough to land the attacking midfielder although a cash-plus-player deal involving Bellamy is also a distinct possibility.
The Welshman is among the strikers Alan Curbishley is now tracking, after Darren Bent snubbed a move to Upton Park, and he will be allowed to leave Anfield this summer. -

same here .. many plp r saying that rafa is waiting for the la liga to end.. hopefully he does make some moves on the transfer market.. dun lose out to the rival big 3 .. it will be heartbreaking

Rafa doesn't show much wisdom in the transfer market. Some of his best buys are from personal experience (eg. Xabi Alonso), while the others are most probably recommended by the scouts.
First it's Darren Bent and now Benayoun. So much money going to be spent on second-tier players and he still dare to claim that Liverpool is on its way to lifting the EPL trophy if the owners gives him the moolah! Give him how much also no use... because he only buys second-tier players. The 10m had been wasted on Craig Bellamy before already and now...

sometimes we have to think why another midfielder ? There must be a reason ... someone going out ? Or a direct replacement for the out-going Zenden ?
Zenden was used as a cover in the middle in the absence of Gerrard , could it be Benayoun in line for that duty ? -

I dun really see him as a quality signing for us.
Leave the epl players alone.

I think Benayoun will be used more on the flanks than central midfield, if he actually signs for us.
I actually quite like Benayoun. Capable of providing the flair that the team sorely lacks. -

Liverpool are to open their chequebooks again, with Yossi Benayoun expected to sign from West Ham in the next few days.
West Ham and Liverpool are set to do business for the second time this week, having agreed the transfer of Craig Bellamy for £7.5million over the weekend.
Isreali midfielder Tal Benayoun is likely to sign for the Reds on Wednesday, in a deal worth around £4million.
West Ham refused to include Benayoun in the Bellamy deal, but this hasn’t put Rafa Benitez off, having followed the 25-year-old since the close of the season. Speaking last week, the Liverpool boss said: “It’s clear he’d like to come and he’s a player I like.” -

Liverpool have agreed a fee with West Ham for the transfer of Yossi Benayoun as the Reds also look to secure a deal to bring Dutch youngster Ryan Babel to Anfield.
Benayoun has agreed to join the Reds after rejecting an offer of a new contract at West Ham United while Babel, the star of Holland's success in the recent European Under-21 Championships, has been given permission to talk to Liverpool.
Chief Executive Rick Parry said today: "We've agreed the fee with West Ham for Yossi Benayoun.
"We're not quite there with Ryan Babel yet, but we've now been given permission by Ajax to talk to the player. We hope to reach an agreement with Ajax very shortly."

If u ever observe , if Rafa's buy is a total let-down like Josemi , Gonzales and Nunez , they still have some good resale value .
Unlike Houllier's purchase , lost is in terms of at least 75% lost in value !
Yessi is in to replace Garcia , that's for sure .
A good player like Yessi will be better in Liverpool . -
