Cut-price Voronin gives Liverpool priceless lead
Toulouse 0 Liverpool 1
Andriy Voronin struck his first goal for Liverpool on his full debut to give his new club a hard-fought victory in their Champions League third qualifying round first leg. The stocky Ukrainian lashed a stunning 30-yard effort into the top corner of Nicolas Douchez's net just two minutes before the break. That was the incentive Liverpool needed to play out the second-half against an increasingly frustrated Toulouse, who will now not relish the return at Anfield in a fortnight.
