Man Utd are very close in overtaking pool 18 league title record
manure 16 times only. if they win this season, it will be 17th time.
judging by it, it will be sooner or later the record being broken.
It's an ugly fact but face the facts , when u're good , u played well and won , u fully deserve to be Champions again .
When we were 18 times English Champions , there were no Russian owned Chelsea , or American owned Aston Villa & Newcastle , or Tottenham , owned by foreign millionaires , rather it's an All-England football club .
It's more passionately way of winning the Championship . Rather than now , more of winning for commercial effect .
Still MU played well to win . They fully deserve it . I can say that .
But ...always a but ..... they can only gets on par the 18 , i really don't think they can get as far as no.19 !!!
U just have to give credit when credit is due .
I alway say this : U played well and won , u deserve to be a winner .
Think back ....Liverpool don't spent billions of dollar to win the English Title that time .
Now if u wanna be an English Champion , be ready to spent billions .
More of spending and win , rather than .....played passionately and win , not for money , but for the pride of football .
Nothing of sour grapes , Liverpool does spent millions , but at least datas shown that .... we don't spent as much as MU .
We bought and sold ....
Still , no necessary u spent and will win , MU spent and won .
So credit to the lads and Ferguson .
speaking of which... wat happen to liverpool youth academic? how come liverpool nowaday cannot produce home talents like Gerrard n Carrigher?
BPL nowaday is invaded by foreign influence. gone were the days where pool produced players like fowler n owen.
well ..... still exist , but now Rafa has the biggest say and ..... he just doesn't have enuf time to overlook the academy . Used to be Steve Heighway .
When u have a manager that focus on the EPL and UCL ..... something has to give way .
Rafa has his ideas .... academy not neccessary must produce local lads . Instead both local and foreign wonderkids .
please stick with the topic .... way out now .

wait till they have done it. as of now, they're still second, ie nothing.
hopefully another Reds' English record could be broken soon.
The Reds are 5-time European Cup winners, and they could break the record if they won it this year.
there's good news for man utd fans.
the champions league trophy which man utd won in 1999 can now be viewed only for 5 pounds, for its on permanent display at the anfield museum

The champions league is about the title and not about a cup. So it makes no different where the physical object lay.
The cup can lay in a shit-hole or in a glass cabinet but its still not going to take away the Historic Treble conquered Man U achieved. Least you forget, It is the title that matters... where the trophy or cup end up really make little difference as its easy to make replicas.
Ya lor Zocoss , u need to win a few European Cup Titles before u can keep the Cup .
That our a few Titles good enough to keep the Cup .

there's nothing historic as man utd is not the 1st team to win a treble, it's the 1st treble for them though.
Perhap you can enlighten all of us here on which other EPL club have achieved the treble...

Indeed its the European Cup titles and not the Champions League... Back then you played fewer games to get into the final and winning the cup... Today its much more difficult to balance it with more matches and a tougher domestic league. If I remember correctly, Pool ended up in 5th place behind Everton that year they won their CL am i right ? So it shows you how difficult it is to win both at the same time...
Anyway, just for your info... There are more clubs "keeping the cup" (5) than achieving the Treble. And since the beginning of the champions league in 1997... Only one club has achieved the treble...
Even the great Pool team of the 70s and 80s could not achieve this feast.

indeed they played fewer games in the past. But what teams they met were all champions of their respective leagues. They wouldn't have met the second, third or fourth placed teams of other leagues. The only tough games usually begin after the second stage onwards.

That's true also ..... real champions .
Again ....to be 0-3 down and still fought back to become European Champion , isn't that sweet ?
It sweeter than grapping a last minute goal , right ?
Guys , we are about to go out of track .... this is about 18x English title , not European Cups or Treble .
Whether or not Man Utd to get that No.18 , it's for us to see .
Do u know why we Liverpool Reds are singing so very loudly with our 18 Titles ?
Becos it had happened ! A Fact nobody can deny .
I will not sing if i've not achieved it !
We had won 18 English Titles thru'óut our history , and i really dun care whether MU can make it , and we are loving every minute of it before any teams can beat that record .
Who knows at the end of the season ..... we could make it our No.19 ?

Thank you for pointing out the very thing i meant... Indeed they were all champions of their respective league...
The respective league of . . .
Albania | Andorra | Armenia | Austria | Azerbaijan | Belarus | Belgium | Bosnia | Bulgaria | Croatia | Cyprus | Czech Republic | Denmark | Estonia | Faroe Islands | Finland | Georgia | Greece | Hungary | Iceland | Israel | Kazakhstan | Latvia | Liechtenstein | Lithuania | Luxembourg | Macedonia | Malta | Moldova | Montenegro | Northern Ireland | Norway | Poland | Portugal | Republic of Ireland | Romania | Russia | San Marino | Scotland | Serbia | Slovakia | Slovenia | Sweden | Switzerland | Turkey | Ukraine | Wales
Great champions they were... Its no wonder that Real Madrid could win 9 since it started... AC Milan 7... Bayern 4... Even Ajax can win 4 during those days... But since the format changed, they have only manage to win it once.
To be very honest, only the club from one of these countries England | France | Germany | Netherlands |Spain | Italy really stand a chance compare to the "Champions of those countries above...
Anyway, do you seriously think that the champions of those countries really are better than the so call 2, 3 or 4th place team of England, Spain, Italy...?
In present day, the champions of those countries can't even get into the champions league after playing the so called 3rd and 4th placed team from England or Spain or Italy in a qualifier... If you care to take a good look at the champions league today, you will notice that the champion of Spain is no long in it and the so called 2nd place team from Spain is the tournament favourite.
Don't forget that Liverpool won their only CL title to date when they were not champions of England... And this can show us that the so called 2, 3 and 4th placed teams are not very much different from the so called champion.

Actually i don't even know what is it about... 18, 19 ... It really make no difference to me. Honestly speaking, I wasn't even aware that united had won 16 also... Most impotant to me is not how many they have won but rather are they still able to win it today...
The league title is a progressive thing... Every year it comes up for a new challenge. So its more important to be up there challenging for it every year than living on past glory... Having a past glory to live on is great but its still isn't a substitute for the present. I bet the Chelsea fans were far more happier to be crown champions in 2005 after 50 yrs than to have a glory past...
To put it in prospective, some Pool fans who started supporting the club after 1990, don't even know what its like to be Premier league champions... I can imagine that if someone started supporting Pool when he was 20 in 1991, would today be coming to 37 yrs old and still won't know the feeling... Instead some new and young Chelsea fan who is just 3 or 4 yrs into supporting them already enjoy the feeling of being Champions and are still fighting to be. I think they would be more than happy compare to having a glory past wouldn't you agree?

Real Champions...
What is coming back from 0 - 3 down in the whole of 45 mins... Then had to win on penalties... quite anti-climax...
It definitely can't beat the feeling of being 0 - 1 down for most of the match of normal time played then equalizing in the 1st min of injury time followed by a winner another min and a half later... 2 goals in 3 mins of injury time... Wow, Totally unexpected... that was the best... and to top it all off, it completed their Historic Treble.

the Reds done it way back in 1984 (League Champions + League Cup + European Cup)
the treble in 2001 (League Cup + FA Cup + UEFA Cup) also shows the Reds' might in cup competitions
