I like GH to stay at Liverpool not as coach , but maybe as Technical Director or Youth Developement Director , someone acting as Chief Scout to hunt for potential gems , like Tellac and Pongelle !

Poolman has a point there on the role which GH will assume IF there's ever a shakeup in the Manager's role.
No doubt GH has done well to made Liverpool a team to be reckon with in recent times after some barren years with the last 2 managers, it's probably about time to engage someone to inject new coaching ideas and tactics. After all, GH has been more mellowed since his Heart bypass surgery and the often high stress level of EPL might take a toll in his health.
And the apparent support of players who under-performed deemed mystified to me too. -

I think it's good when the coach only coaches the team , nothing else ! I think GH has been taking too much role in Liverpool !
Though his Title is Manager , I think he did more than a Manager now ! -
Look like TNP now also share poolman's view that Houllier is a lousy manager.
Pls referred to today's TNP. Another interesting issue was that most of the pool fans felt that Heskey should be sold. -
he is running outta idea to make this team a formidable one.
in the last couple of seasons, anfield no longer has the intimidating aura around them, like how old trafford is to man united.
however, from a realistic point of view, considering how they currently fare on the premiership table, i dont see there is a need for the board to make such a decision. -

houllier can always be blamed for not being tactically smart.
on the other hand, players should also bear some responsibilities for not performing up theirs and fans' standard.
manager can only pass down the instructions before the game, and when the players are on the field, they are the manager themselves.
liverpool can change another manager but i dont see much of a diff if the players' mentality to the game remains stagnant. -
so the logical thing to do is to wait for the close season and remove all the craps in this team: manager and players. But it's sometimes a wonder what a different manager can do under similar circumstances. One very good example is Fulham, under Chris Coleman, they played very well with the same players he inherited from Tigana. Maybe, we should consider a change in manager first.
Afterall, all the players were bought by GH, training and selection of the players also by GH. He must be answerable, he's the boss. -
they won't sack him... they'll wait for him to resign...
coz they don't want him to kena heart attack when they sack him.. -

My impression of O'neil is that he's a modern thinking manager.
Of course, GH is one too. He thinks very hard on how to play players in wrong positions, how to transform LFC into FLFC (French Liverpool Football Club), excuses for LFC record signing fumbling chances after chances, reasons for playing long balls and last but not least how to convince people that this is not the fifth but only the forth season he's in control. Wow. -
At the very least he is better than roy evans. Anyone remember Roy Evans. He is a nice guy but not suitable to lead LFC GH too is a nice guy........

Look here I dun understand y he deserve to be sack? Does it mean not getting into the top 3 denotes that GH is an incompetent manager? Its not like Liverpool has been on the top 3 flight for the pass few years.
I think its time the fans and the press to recognize that Liverpool is just not the same team it was in the 70s and 80s.
They need to realise that Liverpool juz ain't with the same league as the big clubs anymore.
In fact I think this "Oh of coz liverpool should be genuie tittle contenders coz they are Liverpool" mentallity is woefuuly embedded as much as that of the media hype thats has been going on about GH getting the boot -

Look wats on the press does not even come close in reflecting the real deal! Reading the sports column (hey isn't that where we get most of the information from) does'nt makes u a manager either.
Not even managers those of the EPL has ever criticze not to even question the ability of GH! -

Why sack GH ? - Given all the talent, support and time, what does he have to offer ? Lousy tactics ! Defensive minded ! Over-dependent on Owen ! Blind faith in Heskey ! Arrogance of French man in not buying new striker ! He is seriously lagging behind in deploying his players to overturn the game.
Who can be his replacement
? - That is the key reason why he is still around. The Liverpool management have yet to find a suitable replacement for him. Too risky to sack him now without any backup. Maybe give him the last chance for this season before Owen give up and sign up for REAL MARDID. NB: Owen have NOT renew his contract yet. That is why GH is angry over the rumour - he knows that he is losing support and the rumour is not a rumour. -

my point wasnt to criticize his tactical skill but to emphasize that faults lie on both parties, namely the manager and players.

if u only read my post carefully, i wasnt solely arrowing on GH. as a matter of fact, i was more to defending him.
a bad result is equally shared by a bad tactic and poor performance of the manager's players.
but again, save your effort to jump into his complete defence. after all, he is the manager. by not getting the right result, it means his tactic doesnt work. period.
