ROME, Jan 13 (Reuters) - Lazio ended its contract with winger Sergio Conceicao by mutual consent on Tuesday, the Serie A club announced on its website.
The 29-year-old Portuguese player was in his second stint with the Rome club, having formed part of Sven Goran Eriksson's Serie A-winning squad during the 1999-2000 season.
After spells at Parma and Inter Milan he returned to Lazio at the beginning of this season on a one-year deal.
The fans gave him a warm reception, but he quickly faded from view after a series of poor performances led to him losing his first team berth.
Leaving Lazio gives him the opportunity to look for a regular start in another club as he pushes for a place in Portugal's squad for the European Championship later this year. -

GH always like to sign players for free...so he shd be looking at him to strengthen our wing-play or at least give Diouf a wake-up call. -

Well, GH did (finally) admit tat those players bot in 2002 had failed to deliver - they include Diao, Diouff and Cheyrou.
I believe he took a big gamble then...paying for some "unknowns" and hope they turned into "stars". As we already know by now, he lost tat gamble. -
