But my guess is he's waiting for Stevie's case to clear-up. There were already reports on Baraja as ready replacement. Ayala has not ruled out a possible switch while Rosicky move seems back on, so is Owen...I mean Hagreaves. Yah, Owen is likely to stay 2.
Other positives news are tat those average players seem to be on the way out - Cheyrou, Traore...who else hah?

Rafa Benitez will make his first signing this week. Rick Parry is flying out to Spain to conclude the deal which will be a player of considerable talent.
The name of the player has so far remained hidden from all sources due to the quality of the player. Liverpool apparently only agreed to buy the player on the understanding that the selling club and the player made no quotes to the media about the potential deal. Apparently if any details of the transfer appeared in the media LFC would immediatly cancel the deal.
The player will be taking a ?5,000 a week pay cut to join Liverpool and will also be waiving his right to a ?85,000 pay off to secure the transfer.
Ian Rush was due to meet Benitez last week to talk about his promotion into the coaching ranks on a full time basis but talks were postponed until this week while Benitez and Parry finalised the new signing.
Look out for information later in the week, around about Thursday/Friday.
It is thought that the signing is likely to be Xabi Alonso of Real Sociedad, Javier Saviola of Barcelona or Ruben Baraja of Valencia although it could be another big name Spanish player.
This information is gathered from serveral sources. These include KopTalk, KopTalk insider and a personal friend who works for the club.
