Yup the game is on Sat morning.Thats abt 7 hrs from now.
My prediction?I really don't know.Benitez might be trying new things out.
But I'm looking forward to the same spirited,attacking team play that they showed in the Celtic game. -

Interesting Notes:
1.Benitez deployed Steven Gerrard on the right and Murphy in the middle with Hamann.It never worked out.Murphy was out muscled one time too many in the middle of the park.
2.Witbread and Warnock.
The lads struggled.Not impressive debuts.
3.Risse and Warnock.
This pairing never worked out.Warnock was not active going forward.He prefered the easy long ball option.The Kewell-Risse partnership is a clear better option.
4.Dudek
Caught napping early by Quaresma.Uncertain in goal.Very poor performance tonight.
Overall,the team never got going.Perharps it was because of the uncertainty at the back.Warnock,Witbread and Dudek had poor games.It could also be because Murphy and Hamann never asserted themselves in Midfield.Benitez was obviously trying things out.And hopefully,he understands the flaws in this game.The first half was a dissapointment.
Im looking forward to Baros,Biscan and Kewell to come and inject more fluidity going forward in the liverpool game.I say place Gerrard and Biscan in the middle.Take off Warnock,slot Risse into left back.Kewell on the left of midfield.And we should be kicking ass again. -

Witbread's mistake for leaving an opponent unmarked during a set piece caused Liverpool to concede the goal.I'm sorry but I have to say that Zak Witbread is not good enough.The tempo of the game,playing style of the team was no where near the high standards in the previous game against Celtic.
I am very disappointed with the performance today.The players looked jaded and team effort to go forward was just not there.It reminded me of the way the team used to play under Gerrard Houllier.Defend,Long balls and counter attacks.Perharps,its because Benitez was trying things out.But certainly,things never worked well today
Gerrard should be in the middle,not right.Murphy will be better utilised on the right.Warnock and Witbread are not good enough.Carragher was below par at right back.I just feel that Benitez has his mind set on a Hyppia-Henchoz pairing at centre back and is desperate to fit in Carragher at right back.This is not the ideal situation.Of course there is still Josemi in the running.I have not seen him in action yet,so I shall not comment.
Cisse and Owen partnership never looked comfortable today.Perharps they need more games.I will love to see Baros and Cisse together.Im certain we will witness that in the next game against Roma.
Overall,hugely disappointing game today.Too much twinkling from the previous impressive side.But,hey,this is all part of pre-season. -
Think Benitez is still trying out different options....
Defence looks a bit out of place today. Midfield is not giving the front person enough supplies. -
I dun think the new manager is trying out the new options.
Sinama dun click well with Baros today.
Can see Baros getting a bit big-headed in asking for the ball and his style of play during the second half.
Kewell seems to be in No man land.
Biscan is also lost today. Diao is lost forever.
I dun blame them for the defeat.
Just feel that the players in the second half is fighting for a draw and trying to hold up the Porto's attack.
Ah Ben have a long way in making the team fit.
Seem like the Liverpool team is still in pieces when up against strong european team.
Back to the Drawing Board ! -
hmmm i wonder when will we get to see the first 11 in a match? coz today's performance was way below par. No hunger at all in the team. only gerrard was driving on the team again. But cisse look rather impressive with his short burst of speed and ability to take on defenders. Hopefully he'll justify his 14 mil move this coming season.

Porto makes us look average
...good in a sense it brings us down to earth!
Yeah, the youngsters were in jitters...the MF lacked bites altho Gerrard was quite effective on the rite, Riise was poor. Owen had a poor header n was easily outshone by Cisse.
2nd-H wasn't any better altho I thot Diao added some steel in the middle. Baros was a handful at times, while the rest were only average.
Porto did have some good attempts at goals...so I think we were lucky to lose by juz an odd goal.
Let's hope we do better in our next game agst Roma!

Benitez played the defensive formation , built up by Riise , Whitbred , Carragher , Warnock , Hyypia !
Our midfield were really not up there ! Of course 3 midfielders of Hamman , Murphy , Gerrard only , what to do ?

well porto had the image of a UCL champions so they cant look lousy in front of liverpool~
