The CL qualifier in Austria has become more impt than we thot. Not juz the finanical implications of qualifying... it may also turn out to be a "decider" whether Owen remains a Reds for the coming season(s).
It may've been a tadbit draggy by now...but the Owen saga looks set to be resolved by the time the ball is kicked *whew*!?
If he goes, we get the $$$ plus Morientes (if rumour is true tat he's joing R.Madrid). If he stays, then we'll get see if he's worth his wages under the new man...more imptly I feel, we get to retain the heartbeat of the Reds. This is esp. impt when Murphy is almost certainly moving on.
Watever the outcome, the next 24 hrs looks likely to change the outlook of our team n our coming season...I can wish us the best! -

He's actually being quite an as$. All the "Yes Im going to sign soon" $hit.
I say it won't be a bad thing either if Owen leaves.He'll give Benitez the funds to buy new players and Benitez does not really have to sell other players t oget funds. -
i feel dat if murphy leaves, owen will leave most probably. u think Gerrard stay den all will stay meh? come on ppl, if Gerrard leaves den Liverpool will b gone! i m a liverpool fan n i wont wan owen nor murphy to leave, but wif the $$$ they can fetch (they aint perofrming either), it might b gd 2 sell them... n get better players

In my opinion, Benitez should sell off both murphy and owen.
By far, they arnt any outstanding if last season is anything to go by.
Owen is no longer the young hot-blooded speed demon he used to be.
His hamstring problem means he has to approach the game in another
way rather than to use his blistering pace.
That makes him ordinary as a result. Its a open secret his most powerful weapon is his speed.
Murphy arnt really the kind of player tt can change a game or dictate the pace in midfield. I have always held the opinion he arnt good enough for liverpool
the sales of owen and murphy should preferably be used to finance the purchase of pablo aimar and mista (both from valencia) since benitez is familar with both players.. -
Owen can leave if we get 25 million pound or more from the transfer...
morientes coming over isnt a bad thing also...
and then with the money from the transfer, we need to get a really good playmaker... -
come to think of it.. owen is not really a good player
liverpool is able to do without him... -
Owen's departure will benefit Liverpool as now the opponents dunno how to handle Liverpool's new striker, Baros and Cisse.
His departure will benefit him as a player as he will be exposed to the Spanish football and style.
His objective is to get SOME medals.
Liverpool can not provide him with the honours that he wants.
Liverpool is not = OWEN.
We must move on, we must start from scratch to build a team.
Get more quality players if we can get it from one striker.

Owen is too predictable already in the EPL. getting someone like E'too or Morientes might give Liverpool the feel good factor and they need to lose all the links to the GH era. But they must get a creative midfielder from the owen and murphy cash if they want to go somewhere.

Still stalemate...but it's now clear tat this is no media-hype!
Relegated to a sub-role n not used for the whole match last nite says something abt his future.
Somehow I'm already numbed abt Owen's contract saga. Thx to the excitement of the new mgr and the new chapter tat's beginning to unfold...starting last nite.
Then there is the new hope of better recruits joining us - Alonso, SWP, Morientes... all these I'm sure will more than cushion the "pain" of losing our much-prized asset, albeit his diminishing in value by the day. -
Benitez said :" It's purely tactically not to play Owen , I choose the best 11 and Owen was not for it ! "
I still have faith in Owen , he's a thru & thru' Reds !
Just a slight delay doesn't mean he's not signing !

p/s : Real will not sign Owen , purely because they have Ronaldo & Raul , and Morientes , whom is as good as Owen , if not better !
Real's main objective is Viera , not Owen !
Marketing value ? Naye...Owen doesn't have too much marketing values !
Honest speaking , I wouldn't want to pay 20 million for him , and his wages demand of nearly 320,000 pounds per month on him unless he has marketable values like David Beckham !!
Now the scenario is that Owen thinks he is as good and Benitez is thinking otherwise , eveyone is playing everyone's mind game now !

Owen is not as hot as he used to be.
Maybe this is the last chance to get some value out of him.

100,000GBP per week is a big burden.
rafa must have thought he's over-valued.. so better sell him off -

sell owen!! i don't like ppl who are so "po ma" take so long to decide whether to sign for liverpool. Personally i feel tt he's not as good as who he used to be. better sell him now in case he does a "mcmanaman" on us. Also from this u can see owen's loyalty to liverpool. obviously he feels tt liverpool can't challenge for the top honours, tt's why he's not signing. since he feels this way, GO PLS so tt we can bring in new players!

The truth is that Benitez does not feel Michael Owen is that good a player.If an offer comes in for him,he will accept it.Of course,he is looking for at least 20million pounds,which Real is unlikely to offer.
I say,Owen will leave for less than 20 million.Maybe just over 10 million plus a player called Juan Fran from Madrid. -

Not sure if it's a good deal for us...but possibly the best we can ask for given the "mess" we're in - courtesy of mr owen!
I'm far fm pleased by the situation becoz owen has been dragging us for so long (imagine 16 mths since the start of negotiation?!) and even "misleading" us at the pre-season friendlies tat he's very close to extending his stay. Look at wat now!?
He has put the club in a fix - we either sell him now (no matter how cheaply) or risk losing him for free next summer! I dun blame RM for taking us to ransom... it's a commercial deal and surely they know they have the upper-hand in it!
