I just came from the official Liverpool website and after going thru the team sheet, i found that apart from the first 11, our reserves are way behind the other title contenders. If any of the first 11 gets injured, who are we going to play? And Ah Ben is still happy selling players. See the team now heartache.
Just by comparing with Chelski, already no eye see, when Arsenal and MU full team come back i think i will cry.

Look at the budget that Chelsea have vs Liverpool have.
Taking into consideration that Liverpool is building a new stadium.
And how Ah Ben can sacrifice micheal owen for a petty 8 million pounds.
Liverpool may have some financial constraints.
The Liverpool Board have yet convinced that Ah Ben can buy good players.
They have been severely bitten by GH through Diao and Diouf.
I agreed with you that the Liverpool reserves is shallow.
But, the point is that we may have a gem within.

If Benitez can motivate a team , with relatively unknowns into a Championship materials , he (Ah Ben ) certainly can do magic at Anfield !
When Valencia won The La Liga , the squad is not big either !

I would really like to see ben turn players like biscan and diao into winners but i doubt it will happen.

just look at the way arsenal is playing currently and how liverpool performs last sat.
its clear cut. sometime u need class player to win matches.
Wenger is good as he can spots young talent. He bought many young Punks with great potential and turn them into star players.
Ah ben? I dunno...but i hope he can succeed. Seriously though, i know this is going to be a heartache season for liverpool.

The good thing abt soccer is tat it's not played on paper. Also star players dun always gel as a team...which again is crucial in soccer. Then there's also the tactical aspects and the mentality of the players.
Getting expensive "good" players will no doubt boost their chance of winning, but it does not guarantee tat!
Look at R.Madrid...despite being an all-star team, they were lucky to have won the la liga once in the last 3 yrs. And we all know who won it the other 2 times!

In the modern game,squad depth is no doubt important.Injuries and suspensions can really hurt a team.eg Real Madrid last term and Man U at the moment.
Liverpool need to sell to raise funds for new and better players.But it's also important to try and keep a balance.That's what Benitez is trying to do.He's been promoting a couple of the team's promising youngsters to back the senior players.Speaking of which I find Darren Potter a bright prospect for the future.He came on as a substitute in the game against Graz and I thought he did really well on the right side of midfield.

Owen leaving might change things for e good.... previously our team plays one dimensional... frankly I dun find owen and heskey are really good at setting up plays like ruud van nis...
but things are changing...if u have a keen eye, the way they are playing against spurs indicate the willingness to be more daring.... they now dare to switch play from flank to flank.... i remember Didi try one cross field pass...though kenna intercepted but it is good team dares to try new things...
but i cant say much for Dudek... letting in a goal from near post shows his fundamentals are not sound.. hope Benitaz will recall Krikland...he is the future of England No. 1... -
That is if u are playing a 1 off game or just a mini tournament of 7 games, u can get away with 18 players or so. In the EPL, u got 38 games + league cup + FA cup + European Cup + replays + GST + +++++. WIth the bare minimum Ah ben is running on, by dec burnt out already. I believe that nobody likes to support losers right? Thats why i think that our age group (the sgforum Pool supporters) are all about late 20s to early 40s.
