My first half M... Should not be a problem for kops21 as i have adequate training.Originally posted by Fuqua:Wheyhey, a kindred spirit!
Good luck with the 1/2M. I will be the one shimaying and dragging my arms and feet the last 10km of the race ...
I've worn out my Nike shoes, considering to buy Saucony shoes. U have any experience with Saucony?
*sigh* How to tell HER i need HER by my side, if not during the race, at least in spirit, giving me encouragement. Certainly no others can take her place. *sigh* My heart is heavy but today i will train harder ...Originally posted by Estee:oh that's great..... u can take care of my buddy then.....

Thanks pal. Actually I only started running about a year ago .. as a cure for a broken heart!. My heart has healed slightly but my addiction to running has grown stronger!! Hehe. I'm doing 5km almost daily now, resting on a Monday. and doing about 10km on a Saturday or Sunday. Looking to run a straight 18-20Km next week. But i need to get a new shoes real BAD.Originally posted by kops21:My first half M... Should not be a problem for kops21 as i have adequate training.
What is your weekly longest run currently? What is your weekly mileage? U should be doing 28-33km for the longest and clock about 70-80km per week?
Your first M? Hang it there, u will finish it, no matter rain or shine.. Base on the some running formuale i should compete M around the same time as u 5 1/2.
No experience with Saucony...If Nike Shoes are good for you, u shouldn't switch brand. I read quite a fair bit on those runners website about it. Highly not recommended to change brand or even model if your old one works fine for you.
*sigh* Life can be tough on runners sometimes ... enuff said.Originally posted by kops21:This kind of buddy...Sigh.....
My sweetheart said she gonna sleep and only ask me to wake her up after the run......
Ladies, Ladies...never know the NEEDS......
kops21 already finished my run for today.... Train hard, but safe... Listen to your body...
On another note, wanna join me for an Outing for MacRitchie Reservior? Get yr buddy to come also... Anyway she said can't finish 1/4 M. This distance should suit her...
bro, we started running about the same time...kops21 run bcos i failed my IPPT... Currently, slight short of GOLD...gonna make the break through this year, if not earlier next year...Originally posted by Fuqua:Thanks pal. Yes, my first marathon. I tot i just go and jump in there and do a full marathon instead of a 1/2M. Need to clear the heart of some bad memories still buwhahahahaha! ...
I know i'm not strong enuff yet so i expect to run/walk the course hopefully within 5.5hrs. Good luck to US then .... AND see u at the fnish line.
I prefer to run alone too...too difficult to find someone the same standard and run together...Originally posted by Fuqua:*sigh* Life can be tough on runners sometimes ... enuff said.
Hey, u have fun at ur MacRithie R outing. for me, I prefer running alone cuz that way i can pace myself and go slow or fast as i need. Hate others to past me haha!. AND don't believe lah what Estee told u I know that girl can run and jump higher than me ... so 1/4M wud just be an easy stroll in the park for her ... cheers buddy.
Like i said, THIS is gonna HURT me real BADDDDDDDD!Originally posted by kops21:bro, we started running about the same time...kops21 run bcos i failed my IPPT... Currently, slight short of GOLD...gonna make the break through this year, if not earlier next year...
Not to dampen your spirit. Ur training is insufficient for Full M. We are about 3 weeks to the D-Date..we should be tampering down...that means we should reduce our training intensity. Ur daily run should be 10km and not 5km. What you are doing now, is only sufficient for 1/2M.
I am runing 16-18km for the last 4 weeks, this is the training distance for 1/2M. U should be doing 28-32Km currently for full M. U R not condition to run a Marathon in less than 1 month time....
I know running can make ur mind and heart peaceful, but pushing too much within this short time, going hurt yr body badly... U should reconsider doing full M coming December.
To run and walk for full M, have you spoken to any runner consultant on it? Maybe you can consider doing 5+1 method. Run 5km, walk 1km, 5km run, walk 1km......I have quite a few weblinks on running, if you required.
To break in a shoe with 3 weeks gonna be some task provide you run with it everydays plus walk with it during normal times....
Can you PM me with your email address, i need to zip those links and send across?Originally posted by Fuqua:Like i said, THIS is gonna HURT me real BADDDDDDDD!
But i made a commitment and i want to see it thro.
I hear u about the inadequate training and i'm full of admiration for the hard training u've done for ur 1/2M. I'm a complete marathon novice and i have not talk to any runner consultant. I've only been reading a book on marathon and runner's world mag to get some tips and stuffs. I used to do weights before and i think i have pretty good legs but running this distance? ... hence my doubts earlier.
I want to do my 20km next week and see how i feel and then maybe reconsider .... thanks bro. And pls do give me the url on the run/walk thingy. My LUNGS and LEGS thanks u in advance.
Ouch!Originally posted by kops21:Can you PM me with your email address, i need to zip those links and send across?
Seriously forget about Full M and do 1/2 M instead, this gonna hurt very bad. i have a few colleagues that did it before. One told me, he did training distance of 33km before the actual run(finish in 4 hrs) and has to walk (leg wide wide) for a few days and takes about 2 weeks to recover.
