We usually called this the Marriage Preparation Course.
The couple will go through all the questions on the current relationship like "What I like about you?"
"What I think you like about me?"
to questions like
"Who is going to handle the family finance and how are we going to split the expenditure?"
"Are we going to have a joint account or two individual accounts?"
Usually the finance part will cover quite a part of it as money is the MAIN issue that causes disputes in a marriage.
Also will touch on feelings and relationship. Some of the topics include : What is love? Love is a choice, not a feeling. etc
Some religions make it compulsory. But there are also some courses opened for non christians/muslims.
I personally have attended this, which is compulsory for all Catholics. But I guess it is more or less similar to all that are conducted outside the church.
Marriage Preparation courses do not only prepare the couple for the future life together. But also make them understand each other even deeper.
For non Christians and non muslims, you can still attend this kind of course organised by some churches. But for some reasons, you are not comfortable with religious organisation, you can go to
Family Life Centre instead. The course fee is usually very affordable.
