Honor
Inevitably in our short mortal lives, we are faced with decisive choices of extreme proportions. Either by word of mouth or stroke of pen, these choices often affects the course of our lives and shapes our destiny. Very often, our choices entrails with immediate after-effects which would take shape instantaneously. Therefore, being human, natural decisions to choices would be one that favors our endeavors.
Honor is a nobility of mind and a sense of what is right and proper. To carry out that which we deem to be righteous and upright. However, Honor exists as variants; and to each person, his or her own understanding of how Honor is viewed.
Lore 1: Robin Hood, Outlaw of Sherwood.
Honor to him is to take from the rich and give to the poor. To take from the coffers of the rich, but corrupted English Nobles and giving it to the poor and suffering common folk. Good and bad alignment aside, his actions to the ruling faction is pure thievery. True it may be, in novel sense that his actions are of honorable nobility, but what of that to take of what which do not belong to him?
Lore 2: George W. Bush, President of the United States of America.
Honor to him is to liberate Iraq from its tyrant, Saddam Hussein. To have the courage to defy the United Nations CouncilÂ’s voting of launching a war on Iraq; on the basis of uncovering and disarming its weapons of mass destruction. All other factors aside, what about the hundreds of innocent, whose lives were lost during the senseless conflict?
Lore 3: Knights of Medieval England
Honor as viewed by them is to treat the Royals and Nobles with the utmost respect and to serve their liege and protect their kingdomÂ’s borders from invaders. However, where is the Honor in these knights when they shove aside an old leper who is struggling to approach them for assistance?
How Honor is viewed, differs from every individual. In doing what is righteous in oneÂ’s own ideals and concepts; to satisfy his or her own duty in life to accumulate good deeds. To carry out the actions that benefits the positive morals of oneÂ’s self-conjuration. That which an individual conceives to be morally righteous and just is, in his or her own definition, Honor.
