Union of Likes or Opposites?

So, do you think it's wiser to marry someone who's similar to you or someone who's your opposite?
Some people would say that similar values and personalities are important. Others will say 'Like poles repel and opposite poles attract'. Let's discuss this!

So bear, you mean to say it was an 'opposites attract' relationship? Which qualities / aspects were opposing?

Yeah... values should definitely be the same otherwise, there'll be a lot of disagreements and disharmony.
I'm an introvert and love to stay home and avoid crowds. I think it's going to be tough if I'm with an extrovert who always wants to drag me out.
I love the occasional partying and such but most of the time, I love peace, quiet, and no crowds! Yeah... I'm a homebody. I can stay at home for weeks and be happy because I have my books and magazines to read, my CD's to enjoy, my VCD's, my computer and sgforums (hehehe!), my cross-stitch, etc etc. But of course not stay home and not go out at all... I love retail therapy and watching movies and going to the gym for exercise classes.
I guess the dynamics of a relationship can be hard to predict by gauging things like personality, character, etc. We never know what kind of jigsaw piece fits for us sometimes. But then again, there are the obvious, like someone who loves the outdoors and sports and is super active would probably kill me if we ever get involved in a relationship. haha!
Sigh...I guess a lot of you would think I'm 'boring'.

Yes, values, principles must be alike... I think interests must be alike too. Same goes for characters.
I think I'm too different from my ex-gf. That's why we broke up.
I remebered j0h0 saying only when one is equal, then can one love. I think that is very true... Both must feel they are equal to each other, only then can both really love each other...
So now I think it's best if you can really find someone who shares the same traits and interests as you...

But hobbies can be different! You can always try something new by learning to like or try each other's hobbies
