* starts singing "sweet dreams r made of this..."Originally posted by Rhonda:This made me wonder... Hey fellas, when you get married or when you're old enough to move out on your own, what kind of place would you like?
I think if I'm single and have reached 35 years old, I'll get an HDB 3- or 4- room flat near my parents. Anyways, I like this Holland V area.
If I'm married, I'd like to purchase a 4- or 5- bedroom place or if we can afford it, an Executive Condominium or Executive flat. Preferably either near my parents or near the in-laws, so we can qualify for that S$30K rebate. I think those point block flat apartments are very neat too.
But I'm still migrating so we can rent out the place, keep some of the rental money and the rest goes to the parents and in-laws as allowance.
If I marry a super rich guy, then I'll buy that nice condo that Eric put up photos of! hehehehehe! And if mega rich, then buy a few more condos and rent them out then live off rentals and join FI's Pro Tai Tai club! hahaha!
Keep on dreaming!
Sounds nice!! And houses in Melb are much cheaper than in Sydney tooOriginally posted by Gedanken:Well, it doesn't hurt that when I do buy a house it'll be somewhere here:
Probably something with:
- 4 bedrooms
- an extra living room that can be turned into a study/library/meeting room
- 3-car garage - one for the daily driver, one for the better half's car and one for The Toy, plus space for all my tools.
- paved patio in the back - I'm not too fond of grass
Must-haves:
- a well-equipped kitchen, preferably enclosed - open kitchens make cleaning a nightmare
- brick interior walls - plasterboard is easier to renovate, but it's got the noise reduction of spit-and-Kleenex
Best thing about it is that, in the right neighbourhood, it's going to cost about as much as a teeny-weeny condo in Singapore.
Drawbacks:
- a place like that will probably be in a stodgy neighbourhood - ah well, the stuffy neighbours can go stuff themselves
- decorating's going to be a nightmare - I like Scandinavian and my better half likes Balinese.
Elindra, so nostalgic and sentimental. So nice!Originally posted by elindra:Looks nice. So far our first place is a flat in Simei
Anyway I wanna buy back our old place from my dad and live in the place where I grew up
hahaha! Shopping is goooood! When I attended classes in Nanyang Polytechnic, I'd drop off at Orchard MRT station to change to a bus to go home everyday and in the end, I'll end up window shopping! hehehe! Really fun! If there's a mall, I cannot resist! hehehe! Better still, I work shift duty and I can shop during off-peak periods and can avoid long queues at the cashier's, changing rooms, etc.Originally posted by BabyLover:no thanks.. it reminds me of sept 11
i hope to move near to my mum in orchard... then i can
everyday go shopping like her... hiakhiakhiak...
Same here - well, kind of. It looks like I'll be doing a fair bit of work in this neighbourhood, so I may as well use this Singapore flat as a Southeast-Asian base of operations.Originally posted by elindra:Looks nice. So far our first place is a flat in Simei

Rule number 1 of urban survival: when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping!Originally posted by Rhonda:hahaha! Shopping is goooood! Yeah, Sydney never quite took my fancy, although I haven't spent any time there. All of the Sydneysiders I know have moved to Melbourne and never regretted it.Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:Sounds nice!! And houses in Melb are much cheaper than in Sydney too
