Outing?

Okay, folks, this is actually a pre-outing thread. I raised the idea in ShoutBox last night, and everybody had a different idea of what they wanted, so if you have a suggestion about time and place, put it here, and once we have enough material I'll start a proper outing thread.

Some sit-down event, small and cozy, where we can all talk and get to know one another. Comfy seats and nice, cozy ambience a great plus!
I think for a first outing, don't make it activity-filled cause the most important thing is to get to know the folks!
A meal followed by drinks would be great! Also, would be good to avoid the crowded areas this time of year. Wouldn't relish hawk-eyed waiters trying to make you vacate the premises asap!
I'd recommend Foster's at Holland V. Haven't been there myself but passed it so many nights when I'm off Evening duty and folks seem to enjoy themselves there. The place is romantically lit (ie. dimly lit) with candlelights (or votive lights) in their outdoor seating area and they have a resident guitarist who plays wonderful jazz / long songs / easy listening songs. Don't know about the food but they must be pretty decent cause they're still surviving when a lot of other restaurants have closed down in this area and on top of it, they've expanded their seating capacity.
Food for thought... open to other ideas and suggestions. -

Actually, Ged, if there are enough cars for transport, the place I'd really recommend is this bar at Mt Faber. It's open on all sides and offers awesome views of our World Trade Center and the bridge towards Sentosa. Top marks for ambience!

Makan outing will do just nice.
It doesn't really matter the place, it is the crowd that counts.
Festive season is drawing near, either do it soon or have to wait till Jan.
I prefer quiet place with good lighting.....at least can imprint a better picture onto a nick.... -

All right, we've got Foster's as a suggestion, and also Altivo.
Drinks and driving may be an unsuitable combination - Bear was looking quite forlorn at the last outing at Paulaner's, because he was driving and had to limit his ethanol intake. I suspect it's going to have to be one or the other.
As kops said, timing is essential now. I suggest some time this weekend. Friday's out for me. -

Count me in too...if I can make it I will come (below 30ers welcomed right?)...I suggest Pasta Fresca at East Coast - Laguna... nice ambience, quiet, have tables on the beach too so you can feel the sand between your toes,wind in your hair and water lapping on the shore...

another you guys might wanna try is bonjangles at eastcoast road (near the junction of east coast road and still road). Nice ambient, serve wine and its a restuarant wif garden setting

If I remember correctly, Fosters is located nearest the bus stop going towards Clementi. Beside a drycleaners & photo shop. -
