Today, I received a call...

It was from a major US investment house... one of those top Wall Street names...
The lady was asking if I'm interested in an internship with possible conversion to a perm position...
I said I'm on an internship currently...
She said her internship will have to start immediately...
I said let me consider it, when do you need a reply?
She said ASAP.
I said can I reply you next Monday?
She said she will call me next week if it's still available.
I said ok...
Argh... after putting down the phone, I realised I should have said I'm interested and just go for the interview...
I tried calling back but it was a dummy line, no one picked it up...
Darn, I think she won't call me back next week...
Blew up an opportunity... Guess it won't knock a second time...

What time you get the call? Maybe she knock off right after calling you. USA is on the other side of the globe (12-16 hrs behind). Try calling around mid-night. Better chance to have someone there.

As for the dummy line thing, I don't know how to explain. Most companies, when they call you, show a different number on your handphone. The handphone don't show the actual caller's number.

Trying calling again tomorrow loh. Or try to call some general lines and asked to be transferred loh. Or go figure out their HR number and just find anyone who may be able to help you loh. -
the numbers thing is a common system
the number that i call her and the number that displays when she calls me using office line is totally diff.
sometimes(not certain) her office number changes everything she calls back -

I have one more round of interview with a local bank and the company which I'm doing an internship with currently seems likely to offer me a perm position as well... Of course the US bank is better in terms of pay and prestige... well... See if she will call next week... Anyway, it's just an interview.. No guarantee I will get it...

Well I hate phone call interviews, they always expect you to give them a reply instantly.
The one I hated most was that Gallup company...they will assign someone from their US or UK office to call you & ask you tons of questions. I tried to answer as detailedly as possible but in the end didn't get the job. All I got from this was a waste of time trying to answer all the questions which were mostly survey response questions....
