Holiday Eve 1/2 Day

Does your company give free half day before Christmas Eve or New Year Eve to the staff?
My Company won't give it officially, but the bosses will come around after lunch & tell the folks to go AWOL...haha....but then so many people after lunch automatic MIA leow....

My company oso not officially. But for my branch boss will bring us out for lunch on Christmas Eve then go home after dat. For New Yr Eve oso half day.
Then how about Holiday dat falls on Sat? DO you get an extra leave back? cos my side is 5days wk, but dun tink will get extra....... -

For my company, also 5 days work week. If Holiday falls on Saturday, Friday will be the replacement day, if it falls on Sunday, then following Monday will be the replacement.Originally posted by CryoLind:My company oso not officially. That means this & next week i will be working 4 days.
But then lose that 1/2 days each for the 2 holidays.
If it is 5 days week, should give you that extra day leave leh. -
My company Xmas Eve and New Year Eve half day. other firms in the same line jit tao close whole day. some even close for one whole stretch. sianz... dun even know got bonus this year or not.

When I was working in Singapore, I got half days on Christmas/New Year's Eve. Didn't get any half days before the eves of the holidays, though.

I got 1/2 day on christmas eve and 1 full day on 27/12..
and 1/2 day for new year eve, and 1 full day on 3/1/05 -
Heheh when your company is run by a despot. there are no hard & fast rules for half-day holiday compensation. You take watever you get. Thus we learn to count our blessings during the holiday season

I've got zilch too, like Bear. We don't even get any extra compensation for working on public holidays. All we get is a replacement day off, which is not the same in terms of value and opportunity cost. Worse, on public holidays, the wards get overcrowded with relatives and seeing that kind of rowdy uncooperative crowd just gives me and my colleagues a royal headache.Originally posted by the Bear:i got squat...
