there is definitely truth behind it .... but has been grossly exxagerated for the pic lah. remember how some docu a long time back showed docs removing live tapeworms or bloodworms from those african kids?Originally posted by care bear:I went to read and see again leh...do you think its true??
must really give up sushi ah??
saw b4 already, same conclusion = likely is a fakeOriginally posted by Rhonda:True X, here's why I think the photos are fake and doctored...
In a typical brain surgery, once you incise the scalp, there's a tremendous amount of blood that will ooze out. Observe the hair surrounding the surgical incisions... blood-free. Totally blood-free. Impossible in brain surgery. Patients usually come out of the OT with a shaved head, area immediately surrounding the incision shaved, or, hair heavily matted with blood, iodine and what-not. Not even the tell-tale sign of yellow/brown iodine staining the white hair in that pic!
Secondly, for a major op like this, sterility would be a huge concern and the area immediately surrounding the surgical incision would be completely covered with the typical sterilised green dressing towel.
Thirdly, in an op like this, surgical instruments like retractors would be used to pull open the scalp and hold it open. I also think the skull has been cut through too cleanly in this case.
Also, in a major op like this one, we DO NOT USE oxygen mask at all!!! The fella would HAVE been intubated!
There are too many things I observe in this photo that tells me that it isn't authentic. Disregard this.
Gross factor? Didn't do anything to me.

Correction... not likely is a fake, Kenashi. It is DEFINITELY fake, no doubts about it!Originally posted by Kenashi:saw b4 already, same conclusion = likely is a fake
I'm no doctor, cannot give confirmed answer.Originally posted by Rhonda:Correction... not likely is a fake, Kenashi. It is DEFINITELY fake, no doubts about it!
I think of it this way...Originally posted by CryoLind:but heard dat wasabi can kill d germs/or watever rite?
k. Fine wif me. i can't take too much wasabi too. There was tis guy who keep eating wasabi cos he said it will kill d germs in sashimi.......Originally posted by Rhonda:I think of it this way...
Stomach acid, with a lower pH than wasabi, is still unable to kill some parasites and germs that gets ingested along with the food we eat. So, if that's the case, it really casts doubts on the supposed ability of wasabi to 'kill germs / whatever'.
Besides, if wasabi was really that effective and powerful, it would have been incorporated in some sort of medicine to be used in hospitals and such.
Food for thought... literally!

swordfish has even higher level of mercury, i think... but who cares?
p.s. unless you're pregnant - then not advisable to eat food w high mercury content, raw or cooked...

Also, in a major op like this one, we DO NOT USE oxygen mask at all!!! That would be certain death!! The fella would HAVE been intubated and placed on a ventilator!! I'd seriously like to know which hospital in Japan uses just an Oxygen Mask for ops like these!
Observe the frontal region... there's this huge red bump that's obviously not in synche with the contours of the man's face. Looks suspiciously like a cut n' paste job!
There are too many things I observe in this photo that tells me that it isn't authentic, too many to list. Disregard this 'article'.
