Treasured Books from your Childhood

I'm sure that we have memories of certain books we've read in our childhood that were pretty special and enchanting. What are they?
For me, they were :
- A fully-illustrated and awesomely coloured 'The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse' book (remembered because it had lots of great coloured pictures of food, food, food!!);
- The illustrated 'The Enchanted Forest' by Enid Blyton;
- The fully-coloured sad comic book about the Atomic Bomb, 'When the Wind Blows';
- Walt Disney's Collection of Stories (this one I still kept! hid it from mom! hahaha!);
- A Giant Book of Nursery Rhymes; and
- Chronicles of Narnia.
Hmm... that's all... for now!

i have many enid blyton books, not really treasured or anything..
do books from my teenhood count? if so, they are:
1) catcher in the rye
2) rule of the bone
3) the little prince
4) the tao of pooh
5) the unbearable lightness of being
.....
in my early teens (13-14) i used to read crap like sidney sheldon... yikes! -
I absolutely loved the Famous Five series from Enid Blyton, along with the Trixie Beldon detective books! Oh, I also loved the picture book I had of Lady & the Tramp!
Also, when I was about 5, I loved the Ladybird books, Peter & Jane, as well as the Mr Men series!

The ones i can really remember.......
1)Enid Blytons books...especially the stories about the kids and the Faraway tree..cant remember the titles now but they had this tree that they would climb and everytime they reached the top there was always a new land up there for theme to explore...and their friends the Saucepan man and Mr Moon face....makes me smile just thinking of them...
2)Roald Dahl books - James and the Giant Peach, The Twits, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...
3) The Narnia Chronicles...The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe was my favourite....
4)Hans Christiaan Andersen Illustrated book of stories....all the fairytales...so beautiful....sigh...
5)The Water Babies
6)Gullivers travels
7) Pop up books!!! these were the best!!! Had a few, one on insects....still remember the spider...huge tarantula...you could pull something to make its legs move and something to make its red eyes bigger....way cool!!!

hehehe... I love pop up books too! I have a confession to make, care bear... whenever I see really beautiful children's books on sale, I get hold of them to keep erm... I think when I have my own kids, I'll be buying books and toys as much for me as it is for them! hehehe! I love playing 'masak masak' with kiddos! Used to babysit my cousins when I as in Secondary School and it was so much fun, thinking of creative ways to keep them entertained! Not an easy task. hehehe! -

I remember the boy in Xiao Ding Dang comics used to have a bubble come out of his nose. I had no idea why or what it meant. Years later, when I was at the age when I started to be curious about the birds and the bees, I actually thought that that was how sperm came out of the male body - invisibly through the nose, encapsulated in 'bubbles' too small to be seen by the naked eye!!!! hahahahahahahahaha!!!!! -

and still cant resist them pop up books...saw one in Borders last week on houses....you could pop up and pull up storey after storey of a mansion and there were so many things to push and pull to discover new rooms...cost $109.00...way too ex....but sooooooooooo beautiful............. -
