atkins diet does work. My good friend told me his company got a bunch of folks that does it and it works pretty well. But u need to have determination to go through the whole process, especially the first couple of weeks.Originally posted by the Bear:if you don't eat anything else... no carbohydrates, no sugars, only the bak kwa, you WILL lose weight..
however, your liver may be overworked and blood may turn toxic
it's basically the atkins diet!

Jason lost about 20 kgs over 2 months on the Atkins diet, so it does work. But it has also been proven that men seem to have better results on this diet than women, don't know why.Originally posted by kops21:atkins diet does work. On the flip side, the Atkins diet has damaged the health of a few and even caused death to a minority who tried it. In summary, a high-protein diet taken over a prolonged period of time causes undue stress on the kidneys as there are high uric acid levels in the body. I don't think I'd want to be a slim and sexy girl with renal impairment problems. [b]
True, true... better to eat a balanced diet than die a slow, unattractive, torturous death on the atkins or whatever diet pills. Poor health sucks... and bankrupts you too.Originally posted by Kuali Baba:Gout isn't particularly attractive either...

However, I'm happy and really, when it comes to the crunch, that's what matters most. One of my new year resolutions is to bring down my BMI though, to stay healthy and also well, to be in-line with my profession. So far, haven't been doing much but overall, doing very well cause in the past 2.5 years, dropped 2 uniform sizes liao.
Slow and steady wins the race!

I was at IMH the other day, waiting and waiting for the doctor as USUAL. So took a tour around the building by myself. Anyway how cares about some strange behaviour at IMH.... I saw this poster on the wall on "club303" at IMH - Running Club if you pass their requirement. I was impressed with the number of staffs making it onto club303. At least about 20-30 of them on the wall. I guess the CEO(which is a runner enthusiast) want to inject some kind of healthy lifestyle into the company.
Is it only me, or maybe i am bias, i keep seeing singapore nurses that are bwee swee only those nurses from neighbour countries looks much slim.
I actually started exercising. hehehe! That's cause I found exercises that I actually enjoyed so I had fun alongside the purpose of working out. That makes things a lot simpler, see.Originally posted by Camellias4me:Hiya Rhonda~ Wow.. U noticed my existence.. haha

we over makan. that is the reasons we need to exercise more. Sadly exercising is like telling a person he has over eat, which he has the same amount of food for years.Originally posted by Rhonda:No lah, kops... there are many slim and sexy local nurses around too.
However, most of the foreign nurses here are slim and you'll hardly see them bwee one. That's because back in their home countries, eg. China, Philippines, India, they don't indulge as much as we do. Most of them end up having to save a lot so lifestyle-wise, they aren't as blessed as we are over here. However, a few of them have complained that once they came here, if they ate out a lot, they started to gain weight cause our diet here consists of larger portions plus more fried foods and other delicious but unhealthy stuff.
Most of us eat more than the recommended daily servings. Almost all patients complain that the food served in the hospital is not enough and not delicious... well, that's because we usually overeat cause the portions served by hospital kitchens are monitored by dietitians and that's actually the portions we ought to be sticking to everyday. Also, they control the amount of sodium and what-not that is used in the food and the blander food is actually the healthier version.
A lot of us here need to seriously rethink our diets.
