Yup...the day of the year is coming.
Rose pricing is going or had gone rock high.
Sadly, i'm going to be that sucker that is going to buy some.
How are you folks(couple) gonna celebrate?
How about those singles? what are you doing? I used to avoid busy area, like Orchard Road and go on with my normal daily routine. -

Luckily for me, my girlfriend is as practical as I am.
She didn't like the idea of ultra-expensive flowers and single menu resturants too

Well, I'd celebrate Valentine's Day IF I hold shares in Far East Flora / Hallmarks / Kalm's Gifts, etc... It's such an over-rated commercialised day. Just the day before, in the news on Channel 5, there were couples booking rooms in a 5-star hotel here to the tune of S$300+++ for that night only!!!
My upcoming trip to Malacca doesn't even cost that much!!!
And then, think of the queues, the crowd, the awkwardness, etc etc. I'd rather celebrate my special day on any of the other 364 days of the year. I think celebrating the day you first met your partner or the day you officially became a couple for instance, is much more meaningful.
Even if I were attached, for Valentine's Day, I think I'd like us to choose a DVD to rent each, then head home to cuddle on the couch and watch the movies. Enjoy each other's presence in an 'er ren shi jie'.
Avoid the crowd at all costs!!! Get 'away from the madding crowd'! And, stretch that dollar further.

Actually, it's not as if it's rare to have girls getting guys gifts what... I for one have given guys gifts before. Only thing is, you've got to know a guy well enough to get something that you know he'll enjoy. I'm gonna be spending the day away from my loved one! He'll be in the UK for a month, while I'll be in Sydney. Quite alright not to celebrate it on the day itself lah... would rather celebrate it a few days' before, or, in my case this time, one month later!! It's less expensive (on roses & food) & also less congested in the restaurants! We hate crowds
Actually, one of my ex-colleagues used to give her close friends presents during V-day, just to say how much she appreciated having them in her life. She'll then spend each V-day having dinner with her family. I thought that was very sweet! -

once i got a bouquet of flowers with a teddy bear delivered to my office last time.... everyone thot my hubby sent it.... no card no name... i called hubby he said he din sent... end up it's my gf who did! i KPKB cos hubby keep asking who send it

i am not a flower person but i have the honour of receivng every year.....
personally, i feel that its a waste of money and no meaning of the flowers when it will wilt finally....prefers meaningful items..... -

All I wanted for Christmas was a kitty-cat purse that fits into the pocket of my uniform from that shop in Takashimaya selling kitty-cat bags and such. Cheap and easy... and a colleague of mine actually got it for me for Christmas cum New Year!
In contrast, what do guys wish for?
Sports cars, Racing Bikes, iMac, iPod, PDA, Top-of-the-range cellphone, etc etc... All sooooo expensive!! How to get them what they wish for? hehehe! -
i will probably do my own things that day....hubby works till 10pm...but planned to cook something nice for him as supper then...both of us are practical type, dun like to go crowded places on this kind of special day.
