I try to... at least once a year. More often if time and most importantly, finances, allow!
I used to have a close friend who owned a car and we'd drive up to Malaysia for short trips pretty often, at least once a month. We'd just grab a roadmap and drive along and decide impromptu which state we'd like to stop at and explore. It was spontaneous and very exciting!
I'd do it again if I had a car or if I had a close friend who was game to do stuff like this and had a car. hehe! I loved loved loved those road trips!
I seem to have a habit of visiting the same places more than once. Odd, isn't it? I've been to Genting thrice, Malacca thrice (and soon, four times) and twice to Batam. Hmm... been to the USA twice too but it was to different states so that doesn't count.
I feel it's very important to travel out of Singapore to relax regularly. Destination is kinda secondary because every place has unique characteristics to be explored and discovered. Travelling is just a really good way of destressing, of being unshackled and just enjoying life and getting the rest and relaxation one needs and very often deserves. -
I used to go to Australia at least once a year when I was working in Singapore. Now that I'm in Australia, I'm pining to go back to Singapore for R&R!

So, Rhonda, what are the places in Malaysia you have been to? Is it just those few popular places or you went to the lesser known places as well. My brother and I and a group of friends goes to Malaysia quite often. But we go to the lesser known places, or well-known places where Singaporean do not go as much. Treking, waterfall hunting, island beaches, watching fireflies etc are examples of places and things we do in Malaysia.

try to do this....but have to make sure me and bf can get same leave...last yr went to a lot of places: Australia, Phuket and also back to my hometown China...luckily went to phuket before the killer waves.....

Har.. still within cities har. Is there any out of the city places you go to often? I would imagine that you would go out of the cities more often in Australia. Once in 1998 just after graduation. Drove from Sydney to Cairns.
Once in 1999, drove from Perth to Esperance taking the route near the coast through Margret river and back towards wave rocks.
Recently to Brisbane on a business trip.
Thinking of going there again, but this time with my girlfriend. She has never been there. Still thinking where to go. Any good recommendation for a couple vacation? -
