And what did he say to that?Originally posted by elindra:My hubby tried to be romantic but he was so nervous, he left the flowers in the car and was stuttering so badly I got impatient and said,"Are you trying to say, will you marry me?"
Haha... i think engagements are really a recent thing, dun think people getting married 20 years ago had engagements.Originally posted by Rhonda:Actually, what are engagements for and are they really necessary? Have always wondered...

Anyway, i thought engagements are part of a girl's (rather than the guy's) expectations?
I find that girls (at least the few whom i know better who are willing to talk about such things) tend to be more insecure in a relationship, and require constant reassurance that the guy she is with is gonna be the one who'll marry her eventually. In other words, a relationship must lead to marriage, otherwise it is pointless to carry on, esp since 'youth for a woman is precious and limited'. And this mentality is in people who are in their early 20s!
Well, so i suppose an engagement is a form of saying (to put it crudely): "yes, i'll marry u. I ain't wasting your time, so please don't run away.."
How about "Let's go for the baby bonus"??Originally posted by lilogirl:...
My proposal was just a typical 'let's go apply for flat' type...
