TOKYO — A 102-month-old cow that died earlier has been confirmed as having had mad cow disease, making it the 15th case in Japan, the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry said Saturday.
The cow, a Holstein, was born in August 1996 and raised in the town of Honbetsu, Hokkaido. It was checked for mad cow disease after it died, the ministry said. The cow was killed recently after it was diagnosed with arthritis.
