25.9!
there is a FAT measuring device in the market that sent out a small amount of current through ur body and measure your FAT ratio and amount of FAT in your body which is far more accurate.Originally posted by fudgester:BMI does not apply for certain people. Bodybuilders with lots of muscle mass for instance. They have high BMIs.... not because they have a lot of fat, but rather, because of their high muscle bulk/density.
Heck, some of my friends have BMIs in excess of 23 because their bodies are rippled with muscles.
I've seen that device you're talking about. Can't remember what it's called but you just grip on to the metal handles firmly and hold the machine out in front of you and it'll give you your fat percentage reading.Originally posted by kops21:there is a FAT measuring device in the market that sent out a small amount of current through ur body and measure your FAT ratio and amount of FAT in your body which is far more accurate.
True, true. Muscles are heavier than fat and it would definitely skew the BMI results.Originally posted by fudgester:BMI does not apply for certain people. I guess I'm just big-boned, cos I'm not really that muscular.
Heck, some of my friends say that I look almost emaciated.

u r so true.. the skinny always thinks tt it's alright for them to eat anything n not work out.. tt's so wrong.. ended up the skinny pple make a large portion of pple suffering from strokes heart attacks etc..Originally posted by kops21:No good for you too.
U r thin, does not means you are healthy and free of sickness. The opposite normally applies, as folks that are thin tend to disregard the need to take care of their food intake and exercise.
Cool.Originally posted by Gackt247:u r so true.. the skinny always thinks tt it's alright for them to eat anything n not work out.. tt's so wrong.. ended up the skinny pple make a large portion of pple suffering from strokes heart attacks etc..
Though i eat alot n watever i want.. i do exercise..
that machine that sends electric impulse thru ur body rite? its not really accurate...if u drink alot of water, u can mess the results up....water pass thru water, etc etc...probably most accurate way is measure fat layer near ur hipbone area..Originally posted by Rhonda:I've seen that device you're talking about. I asked a doc before how the machine works and whether it works and he says it's very accurate. It works by sending some sort of mild impulse (ions) through your arms and then it measures the amount of resistance it faces in its path. Apparently, the more lipids (fat cells) it encounters, the slower the conduction rate and thus, the higher the fat percentage.
I have my reservations about the test where they use callipers to measure your fat by pinching it. That's because at the gym I went to, they used to give all newcomers a free fat test using that method and I was pinched till it hurt and I felt like yelling, 'Hey! Play cheat!!'
And BTW kops, could you please share the revised BMI here? I wanna know the details. I missed that article.

just be healthy and forget about the numbers...
it's just like lots of people who pursue a target and forget that the targets are actually guides...
so in their pursuit of a number, they abandon good sense and everything else...
a "skinny-fat" person may have a low BMI which is in the "good" range.. but is hideously unhealthy..
a muscular person may have a high BMI which is in the "obese" range but it's wonderful...
just keep healthy and leave the numbers to the obsessed
