I wasn't home till very late last night so I didn't get to watch it. If Grissom, Sarah and the usual CSI gang wasn't there, then it was CSI: Miami.Originally posted by bismarck:was there a csi episode yesterday night ? is it CSI miami?

Grissom will appear with that drop dead gorgeous moustache on Season 4.Originally posted by Rhonda:Oh my gosh! Look at this poster!!
My gosh, Gil Grissom (William Petersen) is DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS with his moustache!!! *drools!*
Odd, I don't remember him appearing in any episode of CSI like that though... and trust me, I WOULD remember something like that!
Wow... thanks for the info, sweetie!Originally posted by sweetie05:Grissom will appear with that drop dead gorgeous moustache on Season 4.
Right now, AXN is showing Season 5. They will start showing CSI NY on 5 Apr, a Tue.

I've often wondered about our version of the CSI ... how advanced are they? Do they go about conducting investigations the way their American counterparts are portrayed in the show? How much of the series is authentic?
When you become one, enlighten us, yes?
OK, I dug into the Encyclopedia of Forensic Science that I just bought yesterday for $8.90 at a Popular bookshop and found this re. the 'Luminol' thing...Originally posted by ilovemyrolex:The "luminol" thing that they spray around to reveal blood and semen is highly toxic! It's amazing how they liberally they spray it all over-the crime scene! Is it bravery, idiocy or Hollywood artificiality?
Oh yeah! CSI will be on Channel 5 tonight at 10pm! I will definitely be staying put at home, gwai gwai, watching the show!Originally posted by ilovemyrolex:Grissom is going under the knife tonight... maybe when he gets better, he'll be nicer to Sara.
hmm i thought it binds to the haemoglobin in blood and fluroreses ?Originally posted by Rhonda:OK, I dug into the Encyclopedia of Forensic Science that I just bought yesterday for $8.90 at a Popular bookshop and found this re. the 'Luminol' thing...
"Even in cases where all traces (of blood) has apparently been removed - say on ceramic or plastic - there are chemicals which, if sprayed as a mist on the surface, will reveal the former presence of blood. The reagent leuco-malachite green will indicate traces diluted so as to be invisible to the eye, and sprays of orthotolidine and phenolphthalein produce the same result - the former revealing 'invisible' stains as bright green, the latter pink."
Interesting, isn't it?
I was going to grab another two forensic science books available in Times the Bookshop at a 20% discount over the weekend but was on Night Duty and couldn't go. Sigh...
according to career guide 2005. u need a med degree frm NUS or reputable foreign unis. which effectively spells the end of the road for me.Originally posted by ilovemyrolex:Grissom is going under the knife tonight... maybe when he gets better, he'll be nicer to Sara.
I agree with Bismark, that the stuff they do on the show is over glamorized.
Bismark: What are the neccessary qualification? Do you have to belong to the SPF?

Today's episode shall be the last episode for this season. I wonder if they'll keep on bringing in this series! I sure hope so cause I enjoy watching CSI thoroughly!
Bismarck, if you read it again slowly, you'll see that it neither supported nor refuted your point. All it did was to name two agents that could detect the presence of blood, even if invisible to the eye.Originally posted by bismarck:hmm i thought it binds to the haemoglobin in blood and fluroreses ?

the ending abit subtleOriginally posted by ilovemyrolex:Rhonda, are you sure last night's episode is the last of the season?
Seems it didn't end properly.
Anyways, the next one is on the same time next week!
btw: did anyone watch the Practice? what was the last thing Alan Shaw said before he walked out the door????
Yes, last nite is the season finale for Season 3. The ending is very subtle, leaves the audience craving for more... tats the make of a good tv series!Originally posted by ilovemyrolex:Rhonda, are you sure last night's episode is the last of the season?

Yup, he said that before he walked out, leaving the other partners a bit stunned.Originally posted by sweetie05:Yes, last nite is the season finale for Season 3. The ending is very subtle, leaves the audience craving for more... tats the make of a good tv series!
Tot Alan Shaw said "i really love working here" right?
wa...chim man...Originally posted by the Bear:Alan Shaw is one of those people with a personal code of ethics which may not be consistent with others or society at large..
but he will die before he betrays his own personal code...
thus he'll always be on the outside looking in...
he was let in before.. for a while.. and it felt good to him... "i really like working here".. but he knows it's not for him... and therefore he walks out...
the partners never knew or may never know why he did what he did.. he was trying to tell them.. but they'll be unable to understand...
he's the outsider, he'll never fit in anywhere, he'll probably never belong anywhere..
alas...
That show is actually quite cheem. It comments on social issues a lot. Makes you think.Originally posted by sweetie05:wa...chim man...
ya, this show is kinda cheem but very very interesting and thought-provoking.Originally posted by Rhonda:That show is actually quite cheem. It comments on social issues a lot. Makes you think.
The episode where a doctor was being sued hit close to home. It discussed issues that I've been discussing about with my American friend who was in Medical School. Apparently, lawsuits against doctors are so rampant there that it's hard to find a good gynaecologist these days because the poor gynaes get sued for every single birth disorder that baby might suffer from, even if it's genetically-inherited and thus no fault of the gynae's. Or, it could be something inevitable that happened during a procedure, an 'acceptable risk'...
Being quick to slap lawsuits on medical personnel also makes us think twice in resuscitation cases sometimes too. In cases where even the Good Samaritans get dragged to the courts, do you think people will continue being helpful?
When it's a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't, it's the general public that ends up suffering the most.
