You know, when we're all online, everything's peachy and we interact well and all... but I'm just wondering, how different are we all in real life?
That's one reason why I love being online, you get to know folks you might otherwise not have given a 2nd glance to in real life. We all tend to gravitate towards people we can clique with and sometimes, in doing so, we rob ourselves of opportunities to get to know folks who might not seem to fit into our typical circle of friends but, who we might actually interact well with on a deep, intense level.
I mean, how many times have we looked at an acquaintance and think, 'Nah, he/she will only remain an acquaintance' but somehow, situations and opportunities conspire to expose the person in a different light and then, you become close pals.
Here, in Club 30, we might be as different as Night and Day, your preferred pasttime might not be mine and your way of relaxing might clash with my style but right here in the forum at least, our minds meet when we find we're on the same wavelength and share the same opinions and values and our hearts, for the moment, get soothed knowing that we don't stand alone in our ideals.

Well, Rhonda, you know I'm as much of a cranky, obnoxious git in real life as I am online!
Seriously, WYSIWYG - I've never seen the point of having to hide behind a keyboard when you've got something to say.
That said, I'd agree that the forum does slow things down to the extent that we can take a better look at a person than we would in a face-to-face setting. -

Ged, you really are WYSIWYG. I still remember the first Club 30 Outing at that rooftop cafe where we all first met. I have such fond memories of all of you... elindra, Eric, neuros, chocoB, TX, the Don, shiitake and Mercutioz... There were things about all of you then that I still remember effortlessly... even little details like what you were wearing on that day! Very first person I met from Club 30 was Bear, and the first person I met on that outing was Eric, then Elindra, then neuros, followed by Mercutioz, then Shiitake. Our first dinner was at the chicken noodle shop, then Ged brought his girlfriend and turned up... Then when we were at the rooftop cafe, TX and the Don turned up and ate a lotta food. hehehehehehhehehe!!! I always have an instant affinity to folks who love food! Pity I cannot include details here for privacy's sake... but trust me, you're all thought of fondly.
Hey, how about an annual reunion up at the same rooftop cafe? Dec 5th this year? Or hey, May 5th for our half-anniversary? hehehe!!! -
