Hmm, I've never tried Air France - seeing as how us Aussies don;t like them frogs, it may not be the best idea. Ah, f*** it - anything beats sh*tty SIA.

besides, they don't chase u back to your seats and u're free to roam the plane. U can head back to the galley and help yourself to the free smoked salmon sandwiches and the cup noodles. it beats having to sit in a cramped little seat and keep requesting for coke when i can stand at the back n help myself to it.
yup. damn niceOriginally posted by Gackt247:

LOL. good landings? When I took the Air France flight to Paris, I was barely aware that I've landed. I'm one of those sort of people who enjoy takeoffs and landings, be they smooth or rough, but in this instance, I couldn't even tell the transition of the load on the wings to the load on the wheels. Impressive.Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:Sorry to hear about your bad experience with SIA, Ged!
Wow.. actually... I prefer SIA over, say, Qantas or BA or Malaysian Airlines. Why? Cos I don't feel like I'm being treated like a 2nd class citizen, the stewards/stewardesses are polite and prompt in their service, and best of all, I get to choose the seat I want 48 hrs before departure! I also find their pilots skillful in landing (in Qantas, I REALLY felt like I was on board a kangaroo airline when landing! ) Cost-wise isn't much of a diff. (about S$50?) between Qantas/BA & SIA.
I've heard they can be v. rigid with their rules & procedures regarding certain matters, though. That's their down-side.
oh well, just my 2 cts worth
speaking of flying, I wonder how come on some flights, the air pressure can be so bad for me, and yet, on other flights, the air pressure is relatively non-existent & I don't feel a thing even after 1/2 hour of walking outta the plane!Originally posted by HENG@:LOL. good landings? To be fair though, I had one landing which was even more impressive by SIA i think. We landed in a pea soup fog at LAX, and we totally had no idea we'd landed because, although I was sitting next to the wing, the fog was dense enough that I couldn't see it, so we had no idea if we were on the ground or in the air. Yet the pilot put the plane down so delicately that for about 5 mins after we'd landed, most of us actually thought we were still flying.
because on those flights where u experience bad air pressure, the pilot was doing barrel rolls for fun.Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:speaking of flying, I wonder how come on some flights, the air pressure can be so bad for me, and yet, on other flights, the air pressure is relatively non-existent & I don't feel a thing even after 1/2 hour of walking outta the plane!

ooooo. When we went to Thailand back in 2003, there was a HUGE dip which lasted about 3 seconds. People screamed. We hit some really bad air pocket apparently. But I enjoyed itOriginally posted by Rhonda:Oh, on a recent trip to the States, from Narita en route there, there was major turbulence! It was frightening! A few times, the plane dipped and my stomach floated up as my body sank faster than my insides! hahaha! Know that feeling? Happens in those super-fast elevators in those posh office buildings too.
Anyways, the poor hostesses were trying to serve us drinks and one of them almost ended up in some passenger's lap cause the turbulence was that bad.
Me? I was looking out the window and imagining that Twilight Zone show where a man on board a flight saw a Gollum-like creature trying to damage the wing of the plane.
Ultimately, it doesn't pay to watch horror movies, I tell you!
On that flight, there were a few instances where I gripped on to the armrest of my seat, closed my eyes, and said Grace. I think we had two or three of those dips you mentioned. I really thought, 'This is the end!'Originally posted by HENG@:ooooo. When we went to Thailand back in 2003, there was a HUGE dip which lasted about 3 seconds. People screamed. Speaking of praying, my preflight prayer is simple: "Dear Lord, if they can't be intelligent, please let them be silent".Originally posted by Rhonda:On that flight, there were a few instances where I gripped on to the armrest of my seat, closed my eyes, and said Grace. I enjoyed takeoffs and landings too. I've only tried Air China (too young to recollect anything, around 11), British Airways and Thai Airways. BA was pretty ok, I enjoyed the flight. Thai Airways was a semi nightmare, when it was trying to land, I felt nauseous.Originally posted by HENG@:LOL. good landings?
