One of my first gf was more than 5yrs older than me. I just turned 20 then. I met her while working for the same company then.
she was very mature and sensible career lady.
i just started working and was very naive then and only wanted to enjoy my new adulthood.
She wanted to settle down fast.
Settling down didn't even cross my mind.
She would talk abt office politics - i couldn't understand and bored to tears.
I would talk abt enjoying myself - she was most alarmed and concerned.
She would say such & such gf getting married already - (Gulp!)
She would say such & such gf and hubby bought a new hse or car (Gulp!)
It was really boring ... In the end we just drifted. -

I'm sorry about your relationship in that it's one that's doomed from the start, but you shouldn't apply this logic to every other relationship where the only similarity is the age gap... -

well the question remains ... 30 something ladies and teen guys? Probably if ladies can find a 14yr old with the maturity of a 30yr old which I doubt as maturity comes with experience and that takes time
but even some ladies are willing again I doubt it would work as too much outside influence, preassure from friends, family with good intentions and also there's that bio clock how you ladies gonna deal with that? If you are 30 will you willing to wait for a 14yr old to grow up to reach the age of 30 or manhood to marry you by then you'd be 46 and what happens if he later changed his mind. Time is something that unlike money once gone can never ever gain it back. -

To my personal opinion is that age shouldn't stop anyone to be with anyone.
I mean if both parties can click and get along then why bother so much what other people think or say about you both.
At end of the day, are those other "people" who are the one that you are going to spend your time with.
Think about it...
Of course, there would a lot of other issues that both parties have to deal with... if the age gap is quite some distance or years away from each other.
But if you feel that you can handle it, why stop?
The only difference is that everybody put up a certain standard or requirements and they become very picky in due time.
If 2 people of the same age, one may be childish or whatever... does that mean that the other is also?
If so, how would you know without even giving the other one a chance? -

Actually, one of my ex-boyfriends was eight years my junior. That was because we didn't know each other's age until much much later. We got along super fine, shared so many similar interests it was almost freaky, and were passionate about the same stuff too! He was even studying to be a Doctor then, and we spent hours yakking about medical stuff, food, cooking, yada-yada-yada non-stop! Then one fine day, after he told me he liked me, we realised that we had such a HUGE age gap!!!
I found it hard to accept in the beginning but truth be told, I couldn't ignore the fact that we got along swell and all that. So, I finally decided to take a deep breath, and plunge into the deep unknown.
The lesson I've learnt is, to never apply conservative rules sometimes. If it works, it works, even if it means you ignored the steps written in the 'manual'. You just can't be rigid in relationships.
And, btw, age is never a true reflection of maturity! I've met people in their early 20's who are more mature than others in their late 30's. It's the experience, the background, the hardships, the character, the attitude, etc etc that shapes the person, definitely NOT age per se.
BUT, all said, I'd still say NO! to dating a teenage guy. It's just .... bbbbrrrrrrrr!!!!... -

And age should not be a major factor in a relationship, unless the age gap is too extreme...
