depending on budget. It could be a few 00's to a few 000's.Originally posted by foxwalk:Is there like a guideline or something? What about an engagement ring?
yes yes, thats about 10 nights in a 5 star hotel.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:- Turns green -
what I can do with that amount of money....
there are plenty of people who lose their rings.... somewhere in their marriage life... so honestly, i think better invest on a cheaper set of rings. lol.Originally posted by foxwalk:Is there like a guideline or something? What about an engagement ring?
I think pure silver bands are more expensive than gold / plat /white gold bands...Originally posted by the Bear:i think Stephen King and his wife's wedding rings are plain bands of silver...
that they love each other, makes the rings priceless to them.. and they wear their rings with pride.. that's all that matters

because veyr hard to find bands of really pure silver... and because the pure metal is soft... usually is silver coated ones.... ontop of another type of metal.
but really, i am still looking for the someone who met the criteria.... sigh
Where did you see it Bear? I think Chris will need a Titanium Wedding Band.Originally posted by the Bear:pure precious metals are too soft to work...
usually an alloy... silver is usually sterling or 925 silver... still very soft..
i thought of a wedding band in the form of a trinity ring, made of titanium is near and dear to me.. but it would cost around US$1,800
what appealed to me was that the ring would be near indestructable.. and that would be my commitment to my wife

Our White gold wedding band...well It's sooo badly thrashed up and scratched that I don't think they can repair it
Ours cost about 2k in total coz of the diamond I think. We were talking about getting a new one.
Well Chris refused to remove his when he is working That is very sweet of him but it is not even 1/2 a year and the ring looks 10 years old.Originally posted by the Bear:i saw it online when there was once, an ursine wedding was being planned
i think when i have a wedding band, i'd wear it with pride and be loath to remove it.. how scuffed just shows that it's been worn through the years and even when worn out, it's still treasured
but that's me
just google it.. it think it costs that much because titanium is almost impossible to tool without a lot of specialised equipment.. raw titanium is about the same price as silver
You gotta be kidding me about the 3x monthly gross pay.Originally posted by ilovemyrolex:For engagement ring, i heard it should be around 3x monthly gross.
As for wedding bands, really no guideline.
Tiffany, over-rated, over-priced. Can't understand why women are suckers for it. Actually it's jewelery in general.
Well, I sent him the link. He does come in here occassionally.Originally posted by the Bear:

sapphires are nice.. i once bought a pair of white sapphires and they were very pretty

White sapphires??? WOW I never knew. I thought they were available only in blue.
When does one need to get an engagement ring, and when does one not need one?
Oh, it's so kewl that you're looking at something other than the typical diamond.Originally posted by foxwalk:The reason I asked is because my bf said he read somewhere that it should cost at least one month of the man's pay, and I was like, " Really? Who said so?" I told him I would put the topic here up for discussion and see what others say.
I want a sapphire ...
Well, actually I don't really have any preference, just as long as it is from him and it is not gold.
