Seeing the chocolate thread reminded me to post this....
I know everyone in Club 30 will love it!!!
I saw the trailer yesterday and it looks stupendous!!!!

Willy Wonka - Johnny Depp
Charlie Bucket - Freddie Highmore
Mrs Bucket - Helena Bonham Carter
The movie is now in post production and slated for a summer release....cant wait!!!
I grew up with Roald Dahl books and this story was my all time favourite in childhood ( and adult hood)
I still have those books from my kiddy days and the VHS tape and now VCD of the 1971 movie version starring Gene Wilder....now we have Johnny Depp!! drool drool drool..... -
I think the casting is PERFECT.
People of our generation (ok, vague area here.... let's say 20 - 40s ) ... we grew up with and love the book, and the ladies grew up with and love Depp

Yah I think so too!!!....Plus its Tim Burton directing and he's twisted enough to bring the wild ideas of the book to reality!! besides, it would do me good to have one around the house.. or maybe i'll go to the library.. been meaning to go to the library to borrow some movies too.. like was telling neuros last night, i would like to watch Fritz Lang's Metropolis again...
oh.. and you can have my book, Fermat's Last Theorem... about... MATH!

who's watched the original movie of it? I read and did so dearly loved both the chocolate factory and glass elevator books. then back when i was still small, mommy would bring me and my brother to the british council, and we would rent video tapes to watch. we normally got thomas the tank engine videos, but once we decided to get the chocolate factory movie. it was lovely. now this tim burton one is definately going to be enjoyable!

you can borrow movies in the library??? I didnt know that....havent been there in donkies years...hmmm...should make a trip down and check it out huh??!! how long can you keep them? -
i haven't a clue... just that i was told i could by neuros
anyhoooo... the book is tied together by mathematicians' obsessions.. particularly Fermat's Last Theorem...
but it mostly it's their stories.. like Euler's being called Analysis Incarnate.. and the passions and genius of Sophie Germaine.. as well as the other mathematicians.. including a tragic young genius who died in a duel..
