How much must be my pay to be consider Eligible

  Just wondering how much must I made to be consider a eligible guy, my pay is slightly below 2.5 K ...to most gal i know they consider it quite low. Cos it consider a fresh grad pay...Most of guy friend are making 3 to 4 K , these pple are happily married or attached.. is it becos i am not making enough thus not attractive to the girls?? Of cos just its just my bo liao hypothesis.. they are pple making 1.5 K still happily married... just that at age is not on my side alr on the wrong side of 30 ++ liao... I guess I just have to be more confident and move on with my life but where is girl I am searching for???? they are nowhere in sight .. Haizzz

  Maybe you are looking at the wrong places? There is no pay mark that states whether you are eligible or not. It depends on the expectations of each indivdual. Like to some, they consider 2k alot of money, whereas to some, 5k is pittance.

  there are a lot of divorce cases due to financial disagreements. so what if you make 10k now? there is no guarantee you will continue to make that amount in the future. just look for gals that are not money minded. there are many around.

  Dear Seancannot,
  isn't it better to find a partner who's willing to go through thick and thin with you and when you make it, you can share it together, rather than one who's with you when you're doing well, and leave you when shit hits the fan.

  The reality of life now is that guys (and girls) need to make a reasonable amount of money to support themselves and their families. It is easy to say that love will conquer all and that money doesn't matter.
  
  But this is Singapore. The reality is that everything is about money here and if you can't earn enough to get your 3 room HDB flat or a 2nd hand car, people will look down on you.

  Have more confidence in yourself. People don't go looking down on others because they can't afford a 4 room flat or more unless they are snobs which you should not even pay attention to!

  i agree it is important to make enough to service the loan of a 3 rm flat and to feed the family. but 2nd hand car to those who dont make enough is a luxury. so all he needs to do is to find someone who is not particular about living a luxurious life.

  This is Singapore, dude. Although people complain about PAP not doing enough for the welfare of the poor, I feel we are so much better off than the rest of the world.
  
  As long as you're willing to work hard, you will have enough to own a decent HDB flat (even though you're chained to a lifetime of debt).
  
  And with that as a love nest, what more do you need for love to blossom?

  if i remember correctly, there is a survey finding that couples thesedays expect combined couple income to be at least 5K to consider having babies.

  Haha, I consider 5k a pittance (for myself) even though I am a fresh grad. I mean I want higher goals.
  
  But I don't think there's a basic pay requiremtn for a partner. It should be enough to share household expenses--else I think the guy won't feel good and the r/s will end up being unhealthy anyway.

  then why do the govt keep complaining we are short of babies? 5k household income should be quite common in singapore. it only goes to prove that random survey cannot be taken at face value, right?

  You earn she earn also mah, family income 2.5k can survive, I know of families earning so much with kids still quite happy go lucky. I find that as long as both spouses can compromise any situation also can survive.

  Gals out there can you really tell me from the bottom of your heart would you choose someone with quality as below
  
  1. Not good looking and a wimpy body (just imagine a Lee Guo huang)
  2.made 2.5 K, not a stable job (contract basis)
  3. not romantic, undecisive and wishy washy
  4. No car nor house
  5. Just a diploma
  
  but I am a honest guy, sincere and willing to love you with all my heart

  1) Not good looking but got good pects and lats
  2) Will make at least 2.5K in a few yrs time.
  3) Not romantic but decisive
  4) No car, won't have car and only have a 4-room

  I not saying girl are materilistic , just that a guy need to make a certain amount of money to give her a certain level of security.rite??. I agree when pple are younger they would think so long the passion there , money is immaterial that kind of thing.. but that wont last..
  
  my ex is an exmaple, when I got to know she was just a fresh grad.. over time she told me her needs and expectation have changed..She wanted me to plan for our future .. rather than just laze around.. she wanted me to get a 2nd job or learn a skill..but I told I was tired out from all the hard works.....I fully understand and agree with her .. i cant blame her.
  
  even if I am a girl I will not choose somebody who cannot provide for me how can there be happiness if there are no $$ and the road ahead is going to be a tedious ones... for someone like my case with 2. K take home pay. I expended my salary every month .. contribute to family alone 1.2K.. left with $800 for my own.. think i am classify as a low income earner for my age
  
  IMO for a guy, he has to taek home at least 3k such that he can provide a certain level of comfort for his loved ones in today Singapore where the livng standard is so high 3k is a benchmark! .. dun flame me!
