Am a sucker for anything Maneki Neko (Fortune Cats) and my colleague, who just returned from a trip to Japan, came back with a lovely fortune cat keychain for me! How sweet is that? 
Somewhere in my mom's wardrobe is a little girl's kimono bought by my dad donkey years ago for me when I was a wee li'l tot.
They should've taken a photo of me wearing it. sighz... 
You must have loved The Last Samurai then? I was sooooo sad that Tom Cruise didn't win an Oscar for his role. I thought his acting was great there. It's one of the few movies I bought a DVD for. -

Yah, saw the last samurai 3 times!! but not for Tom Cruise..more like for Ken Watanabe!!!

..if you enjoyed the show, I recommend these books :
James Clavell's Shogun and Gai Jin....2 out of a series of 4 books, they are epic historical novels about Japan during the times of exploration and exploitation of the Orient by the Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish, and English...the books capture a good portrait of the Japanese, the samurai and their interactions with the english wrapped up in war, political intrigue and of course romance, japanese style. They were writen donkey years ago..my dad was reading the books when I was a kid...but I still find them very enjoyable today!

Thought it was good...will give it four stars
I thought it was better than Twilight Samurai, my friends thought Twilight was better....if you go see it would love to know what you all think...
they are both quite similar in style, only this ones a bit slower, less intense and has more "romance" samurai style intertwined in it...I think Ms Kie is simply gorgeous!!

for this one, I enjoyed it very much cos I have an interest in the samurais and their lives, especially around the 19th century which this movie captures very well...
yes theres alot of talking...the fighting(samurai fighting) is rather short and only during the last part of the film for maybe 5mins or so...
it shows more of the samurais being trained to use western weapons and the difficulties they had with learning and adjusting to something so foreign to them .... -
oh okie..
