Can't help thinking... the fact that this thread exists is a reflection of how much our society has changed from our grandparents' and parents' generation.
Back then, females from good families were well-schooled in domestic arts, including cooking and sewing, because it was deemed essential for wives to be able to cook, and perform the necessary duties to take care of their families.
Nowadays, females are co-breadwinners in a lot of households and the domestic duties have either been delegated to the maid or shared between the family members.
Interesting 'development'...
Just wondering, not a lot of young ladies these days seem to know how to cook... how about tasks like sewing a button or a hook-and-eye back on?

I can do tasks like sewing on a button or a hook-and-eye back
But I plead gulity that I can't do things like shortening a hem or adjusting the width of my pants etc
