Does age really matters when you apply for job out there?

Looking for job is not easy when you're already 30s why is that so? I'll be out of job soon, i've been applying for office jobs for the last 3 months already and so far only "one" job interview that i went and the others i dont know what happen, are employers now choosy over the "age" of their candidates? -
they figure the younger you are, the less they can pay you...
and also, with the experience, you may come in with a whole lot of baggage and bad habits? who knows?
but age is a kind of a stumbling block for certain jobs... -

it really depends on the industry you are in.

....my friend(headhunter) tells me, employer dont want 40s(unless really bo bian)...even though u might have the relevant experience...even for VP postings(which require significant experiences).

i myself dun hire singaporeans...esp older ones...but that is because of the nature of the job and the industry that i am in...this for for the lower end of the job spectrum...
i tell the agencies that i work with i specifically want malaysian chinese...
for the higher end, we prefer singaporeans...but again only young one unless its a position which require specific technical skills/knowledge...
sad to say most likely i will get my retribution... -

I think it really depends on the company as well? My mum just hit 50 and she just got a new job with a pay increase. It is an American company though and their company policy is that they don't discriminate against race, gender and age.
So it really depends on the company and your luck. -
if you are gainfully employed then it is fine. but older people without job are being prejudiced against!!!

with them keep postponing the retirement age, it's contradicting that we have work until 60, but unable to get job at 30s/40s.......
