  I didn't used to like crabs cos I found the peeling and shelling too troublesome to bother. But somehow over past few years grew to like them till I actually craved for crabs now and then. Also learned to eat the body , which is a smart move if I do say so myself cos there's always more than enough crab body parts to go around, as compared to the pincers
  
  My dad's friend makes a mean cold crab. He uses the breed that has soft skin attached to the body that you eat together with the flesh (anyone know the name of the breed? ) Steamed, then served cold with chilli-vinegar sauce.
  
  The man's spoilt me for any other crab.... nothing else comes close. T_____T

  I think it is soft shell crab right??
  
  I read once that they cut off all its limbs except for 2 legs in order for the crab to shed its skin then kill it b4 its shell harden.
  Quite cruel but the taste is so gd!!

  I suspect the cooking method is pretty standard.
  
  The key is in the crab. You gotta get them at the right season, when they're moulting, so that there's a layer of skin under the shell, and the flesh is ripe, thick and heavy.
  
  The uncle gets them from his own special seafood supplier. He used to run a restaurant.

  the crab has regenerating ability like a lizard, when u cut off its legs, it will shed its shell to grow their legs back!!

  moulting is when critters with external skeleton or scales shed their skin or shell so that they can grow...
  
  and 30 crabs? it's the bodies of the crabs everyone else eats coz if everyone eats just the pincers, who is going to eat the bodies?
