I've had taxi drivers asking me thrice about my destination when I tell it to them in Mandarin.Once, I got so frustrated trying to explain to the cabbie in Mandarin that I switched to Hokkien, and he looked at me incredulousy and commented that I spoke gibberish Mandarin but good Hokkien.
Anybody out there that speaks fluent English and Hokkien but lousy Mandarin?
