Blowing Your Budget

OK, say you'll usually budget real well but what temptations do you fall into? What are you most likely to blow your budget on? Sometimes, we may have the best plans but well, temptations may also be hard to bear!
For me, in order of importance, it'll be books, CD's, VCD's/DVD's, stationery, cutesy toys, girly stuff like clothes / shoes / toiletries, sportswear / gear.
And oh, I forgot to mention eating out at restaurants and cafes. -

Hmm... I dun really budget
But my greatest temptations would have to be clothes & shoe shopping (esp. at warehouse sales!), facials, massages. Once I blew nearly $1K (in a month) on these! -

This month, my budget will be blown explosively by a new Fujitsu Laptop plus a vacation to a beach resort!

I'm usually pretty good at keeping my budget, cos i'm quite generous with myself!
But d@mn those wedding dinners, birthday presents, house warming!

set in your budget an item for discretionary spending...
use the envelope method (i dun use this myself), put % of your pay into savings/investments when u get your pay...
the rest put the into envelopes by % into categories that you spend in...then only spend that money...
if you have no money to say spend on goceries then either u do without it..or u 'transfer' your money from another envelope...either way you are still working within your budget...just dun set it too generous ;0 -
I don't like to carry so much cash or leave them at home for that matter.
actually i've come to realize i hardly see my money. the pay goes into the bank account, bills get paid electronically.
Only withdraw some money for eating at coffeeshops and such...

Stuff like food, transport (taxi fare mostly) and standard bills I consider monthly essentials... although one might argue if taxi is an essential
The extraordinary expense items that blow my budget are stuff like clothes and accessories, for example if I go on a shopping spree at a sale, or if I deliberately buy a piece for some occassion, or if I just needed a bag I saw.
